Another case for Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby (John Nettles) and Sergeant Troy (Daniel Casey). The bellringers of Midsomer Willow are being murdered one by one in the run-up to a big bellringing competition, and a fragment of a nursery rhyme has been discovered alongside each of the bodies. In order to find the killer, Barnaby and Troy will have to puzzle out the significance of these rhymes and identify their connection to a long-forgotten incident in the village's past.

This is one of the only midsomer murders that left me speechless. They're all brilliant but this one made me lurch in my seat. I never saw the 'whodunnit' aspect coming. It starts with a pretty nasty sequence about a hundred years ago, and then cuts to the usual 'pretty' village. Its all quite placid, until someone decides to dispose of the bellringers. The bodies each have a line from a weird nursery rhyme near by, and the killer seems to have no conscience, shooting a girl on her wedding day as she has her photos taken. The ending is superb, and the story gripping. A fantastic serial-killer-thriller!

It is never good news when Joyce Barnaby takes up a new hobby, you know it will lead to murder, and this time she has started brass rubbing in the village church at Midsomer Mallow. Sure enough, someone starts to murder the village bellringers one by one.

This is one of my very favourite episodes. It is full of marvellous characters, in particular Peter Fogden, the obsessive captain of the Midsomer Mallow bellringing team. Totally absorbed in bellringing, he doesn't care who gets murdered so long as his team wins the annual Striking competition. And there is Reggie Barton, the leader of the Parish council and a ferocious opponent of the blasphemous bellringers. And Reggie's hapless nephew, who doesn't dare tell his uncle that he is deep in debt. And Sergeant Troy is somewhat disturbed in his investigations by the sophisticated lady who was the lover of one of the murder victims, and who has her eye on Troy as his replacement.

Exciting and very, very funny, this is a classic episode.

This is yet another great episode of Midsomer Murders, starring John Nettles & Daniel Casey. When a bell ringer is found shot through the heart there is a race against time to find the killer before he or she strikes again. This is one of my favourite episodes, if you like Midsomer Murders it's unmissable, if you don't try it anyway as it really is one of the best!!
