I don't wish to turn a reader critique forum (a highly civilized place) into a bickering lounge, but I must take the responsibility along with two other bold reviewers to notify all you potential readers out there to ignore this fellow. If you read this book as you would read any, keeping an unbiased and pure mind, you would probably find great content if not satisfaction in reading the book. To consciously look for sexual undertones where there are none, however, implies someone who enjoys having their mind in the dumpster when they could be experiencing a true adventure for what it's worth. Again five stars--that's five general 's stars--to Nick Seafort.

Okay, so like I'm going on vacation to visit the in-laws and decide to bring something to read just in case. I randomly pick up the book and read a comment or two about in the "grand tradition of Ender's Game" (Orson Scott Card) which I loved so I decide to give it a try even though the author is new to me. Man what a story! I could not put the book down. I finished it in like 3 nights. Next day, the wife wanted to go shopping, I give the obligatory groans but inside I'm hoping to find a bookstore. Yee ha! Found one and its well stocked. The 2nd book is just as good. The day before we are due to fly back, I told my wife I'd buy her that new dress... I think I finished the 3rd book as we were landing at LAX. Three books in just over a week. Sure glad we took pictures to remind me what we did during our vacation.

I read this book when my father recommened it to me. After reading his copy, and the next two in the saga, I went straight out to buy the next four!

The main story is set around Nicholas Seafort, from his days as a young boy, to his movement up the naval and social ladder. With engrosing story lines and plots, I was hooked, often leaving other things until I read the next chapter.

I have read the first three books twice, and am going to get round to read them all again soon.

The fourth book, Voices of Hope, can be difficult to get into, as it revolves around several central characters, and their take on certain events. Each chapter is told from a different persons point of view. Some of the chapters are writen in a street slang languae. Difficult to grasp at first, but if you bare with it, you soon get the hang of it. However, this book is very well written.

The seventh book is told from the view of young Randy Carr, and his hatered for Nicholas Seafort.

If you like sci-fi or naval books, this is a most. I can't speak highly enough of this saga!
