Mark Barry has given some useful background on Mick Greenwood in his review of the first of 'The Mick Greenwood Teenage Trilogy', 'Living Game' (1971). I saw the Mick Greenwood Band supporting Soft Machine at St. Andrews Hall in Norwich in November 1972. I remember them being good although I was obviously there for the headline act. I wish I had paid more attention as I now know that the band would have been Mick Greenwood plus members of the legendary folk-rock band Fotheringay.
'Midnight Dreamer', from 1974, is the third of the trilogy and a likeable album. Greenwood is clearly trying to tap into Elton John's rapidly-growing early '70s audience, with soulful vocals, prominent brass arrangements and plenty of backing singers. There are no stand-out tracks, but neither is there anything bad here. Not a classic by any means but a decent album nicely repackaged by Voiceprint.
