Product Description

Declan Fitzgerald had always been the family maverick, but even he couldn't understand his impulse to buy a dilapidated mansion on the outskirts of New Orleans. All he knew was that ever since he saw Manet Hall, he'd been enchanted - and obsessed - with it. So when the opportunity to buy the house comes up Declan jumps at the chance to live out a dream.

Determined to restore Manet Hall to its former splendor, Declan begins the daunting renovation room by room, relying on his own labor and skills. But the days spent in total isolation in the empty house take a toll. He is seeing visions of days from a century past, and experiencing sensations of terror and nearly unbearable grief - sensations not his own, but those of a stranger. Local legend has it that the house is haunted, and with every passing day Declan's belief in the ghostly presence grows.

Only the companionship of the alluring Angelina Simone can distract him from the mysterious happenings in the house, but Angelina too has her own surprising connection to Manet Hall - a connection that will help Declan uncover a secret that's been buried for a hundred years.

Excellent 2 Oct 2002
Format:Paperback
Having read most of Nora roberts work and being bitterly disappointed with The Villa; I purchased this with some trepidation. I need not have worried.
The characters are absolutely superb- Declan and Angelina play off each other wonderfully and Angelina's Grandmother is a delight throughout.
The story weaves from past to present with a mixture of ghostly happenings, humour and steamy passion. the setting is both beautiful and atmospheric and, as usual, Ms Roberts draws you into both the characters and the mood.
A must for Nora Roberts fans and a great starter for those who have yet to try her. Once you have read one you will simply have to try some more.

A really super read combining all the elements of a Nora Roberts book - murder, humour, intrigue and romance, with a few VERY unusual twists and turns along the way - at this point to say anything more would spoil things. The story is very much written from Declan's viewpoint, a style reflected in her excellent Chesapeake Bay series and which Ms.Roberts does so well. A welcome return to form after the truly disappointing ( I thought) "The Villa". A Keeper.

i thought this was ace. A lovely story filled with lovable characters. Set in New Orleans this book mirrors the heat, the drama and the laid back views of the south. The settings are well created (as always) and makes brill reading material. Despite the slight horror aspects which aren't as they may first seem this is a great book to curl up with. A must.

A Haunting tale.
I love a good ghost story, and when one includes strong likable characters such as Norah Roberts is good at creating, plus an exotic location that you feel yourself drawn into. Read more
