....I've found so far. I've always been fascinated by poker, but never really understood it until I happened to spot the book by Phil Hellman (Play Poker like the Pros) in a US bookstore that gave me my first intro and pushed me to give it a go online. Hellman's book is ok (but not great) and I blew my initial bankrolls a couple of times, so I progressed through most of the other best sellers on poker until I got to this one. As someone that now welcomes those that don't know what they're doing, it's almost certainly a poker mistake to give away good sources of information (but I've had a couple of glasses of wine and couldn't resist it whilst browsing for new poker books), but this is the best I've come across. If you're a complete beginner, read a few of the other books before you take this one on (I recommend Lee Jones and Matthew Hilger), but if you really want to progress with limit holdem, this book is a must. It goes into the same subject areas as other books (pre-flop, flop, turn, and river play), but the rationale behind what to do in various situations is excellent, and it's backed up by the most comprehensive Q&A sections in a poker book that I've come across. For the sake of my own continuing winning chances, please don't buy it, or if you do, please don't play on PartyPoker !!
