I am a big fan of both Deer Tick and Delta Spirit (not so much Dawes) so I was both looking forward to this and slightly concerned that the "supergroup" tag would just be an albatross around their necks and the album wouldn't live up to expectations. I needn't have worried - this is the best album I have heard in ages, and the switching round of lead vocals just gives it so much more variation than you would normally find on any album (I am still not a huge fan of Dawes, but even those tracks are starting to grow on me). The overall style and feel is very much a harking back to good old 60s/70s American roots rock - a bit of Neil Young, a bit of The Eagles, a bit of Gram Parsons, plus a whole lot of other borrowings and referencing and echoes. But still somehow sounding fresh and new and very much of the present. If you haven't yet got into Delta Spirit or Deer Tick then you should buy this immediately - and then buy their back catalogues. This deserves to put them on the map worldwide.

This is a `Super Group' in the shape of McCauley, Goldsmith and Vasquez or in other words, Deer Tick, Delta Spirit and Dawes ion the form of their lead singers. I always go for these collaborations such as `Monsters of Folk' and `Tired Pony' and they always seem to not equal the sum of their parts. This however, is a most welcome exception.

The opener `Daydreaming' is a Deer Tick styled song but is just soft and rough at the same time and is a great way to begin an album. They all take a turn at the mic and all join in on the backing vocals and general shenanigans, including playing tambourines - excellent!

The styles range from basic alt/country to pure rock n roll on tracks like `Someday' and it flows perfectly. The individual signatures of all three main men are to the fore but they coalesce in such a great way to make this albums stand as testament to their individual work and also a work of excellence in it's own right.

I have had this for a couple of weeks now and cant stop wanting to play it. If you are wavering I urge you to take the plunge, all the tracks are great in their own way, which is also a surprise and it ends on a lovely melancholic note with `Million Dollar Bill', and every time it ends I am left wanting more.

im a big deer tick fan and this is possibly even better than their own stuff, possibly, which i love but this for me is that little bit better both voices compliment each other.go to million dollar bill.i hope they make some more albums,i cannot rate this album highly enough,i suppose its country/rock and they turn their hands to both genre's with ease.buy it listen to it and praise it,for me it really is that good.check out deer tick as well.
