Overview
This course provides students with the skills required to configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and WINS as well as other components in a Windows Server 2003 infrastructure.
This course will prepare students for Microsoft Certified Professional Exam 70-291, a core credit for becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the design of the TCP/IP protocol stack
- Convert IP addresses from dotted-decimal notation to binary
- Determine the correct subnet mask when given the required number of subnets and hosts
- Design VLSM and CIDR address structures
- Configure static IP addresses and determine when static addressing is appropriate
- Identify the proper IP address strategy for networks containing multiple subnets
- Describe how IP packets are routed
- Configure a host to use DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address
- Disable Automatic Private IP Address configuration
- Configure clients to use DNS and WINS servers for name resolution
- Troubleshoot connectivity problems in a TC
Students should have a broad knowledge of core hardware, networking and operating system technologies. Students are recommended to have completed the course:
