This is the last version of the easy to use windows programming suite from Microsoft. After this, you are onto .NET, the system that takes over your PC. Unless you are a professional who has to be up to date, Studio 6 is the one for you. Easy to learn, easy to use. And Enterprise is the cream of the crop. The programming languages are all powerful, but remain simple to use, contrast with .NET, where the languages are more or less clones of one another. This is the last version with the type of visual basic corresponding to what we see in the Office macros. Visual Basic 6 is simply the best "home programmer's" language, without the extra complication of .NET. Coupled with this you have Visual C++, to enable you to get closer to the operating system. With full integration with databases, this is still a superb suite. Get it while you still can.
Addendum. I have just found out that of the Visual Studio 6 package, only Visual Basic 6 will be supported by Windows Vista, the rest is being superseded by .net. VB6 is very different to VB.net. It really is the last Home Progammer's language.
