4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent top level view, 16 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Over 20 years in ICT this is the first time I have actually read a book that delivered what I wanted. I wanted a top level review with some of the key tips and issues on SBS2003 SP1 install for someone who has intermediate level exposure to the core seperate products ( except ISA2004). This book gave me all of that. There was not too much waffle around the non-techincal stuff. The techical pricth level was good (IE there was not lots of stuff on what an IP address is, how subnets work ETC). It did not go inot reams of data on basic Exchange setup but concentrated on the tweaks for SBS2003. The one area I found a little of putting was that some of the key setup issues were distributed around the book instead of listed in once place and cross reffered back from the appropriate section (EG SQL2000 install for premium)

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, gotta have one on the shelf, 29 Jun 2007
By Al (Herts) - See all my reviews
this book is fantastic. i ordered quite a few others including Win2K3, DNS, Exchange prior to it and found them a little difficult. all of them are OK once you have some knowledge in the subject. when it comes to installation of a server for your network you don't want to read on DNS when you don't know what it exactly does for you. other books that i have are of that [higher] level. they suppose you configured everything and want to perfect/maintain it afterwards. this book is all you need to start from the scratch. although you may know what e.g. DNS is and what it does, this book will illustrate and offer examples how it may affect your network if you use it this way or another. brilliantly explained, exactly what you need to fulfill the gap between being not a complete newbie and still not an experienced professional. i am sure with reading it on, there will be a lot of useful information for professional too. very good book, buy it if you want to set up an SBS yourself.
