I was looking for PPS 2010 in Depth Book, but this one is just introduction guide for your journey through PPS 2010. There is nothing covered in depth, you are just carefully guided around main PPS 2010 pitfalls. Questions, that popped in my mind during PPS 2010 exploration, still remains. How to automate deployment between development, test and production environment? How to customize dashboards in SharePoint Designer and retain changes after dashboard is modified in Dashboard Designer? Where is the right place for KPI definition - SSAS or Dashboard Designer? There are also bright side of this book - all published Tables and Notes are very useful and can be used as quick reference when you are lost in PPS terms.

This is the first kindle tech book I have purchase on my iPad. The actual content of the book is very good with practical examples, however the quality of the screenshot and figure graphics is apauling. You basically can't make out any of the text, even when zooming in. They are really low res and pretty much useless, very disappointed.

Understanding and Working with Scoring 7 Sep 2010
By Joe Franklin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In Chapter 7, the section "Understanding and Working with Scoring" alone is worth the purchase of this book. Even though I have read two other PPS 2007 texts, this area was still very confusing to me. In this book it is clearly outlined and even walks through an example doing the calculations manually to make it cystal clear how the score is calculated. I would highly recommend this book to anyone just getting started with PerformancePoint Services or people like me who have been using it for a while with some confusion.

Great book for the business intelligence practitioner 23 Nov 2010
By Norman Warren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The four authors of PerformancePoint Services 2010 Unleashed have done a great job of giving PerformancePoint 2010 the attention that a fully integrated SharePoint service application, dedicated to business intelligence, deserves. The following are areas that I enjoyed about the book:

-Show where SharePoint Server 2010 now helps to create KPIs, scorecards, reports, and dashboards that meet team and organizational needs.
-New customers to PerformancePoint Services 2010 and business intelligence will find coverage of key concepts in the introduction about performance management methodologies.
-The authors have done well to cover what's new, what's the same, and what was removed as compared to PerformancePoint Server 2007.
-There is a best practices section for each chapter that covers installation, Dashboard Designer for creating a dashboard, data sources, indicators, KPIs, scorecards, page filters, reports, advantages of SharePoint integration, and maintaining a PerformancePoint deployment.
-There are some great diagrams that will help users conceptualize dimensions and measures as they are surfaced as measures in a scorecard.
-I enjoyed drilling into specific areas such as using a SharePoint list as a data source. I used this section as I wrote my own article about connecting Performance Point Services to Oracle data sources using Business Connectivity Services.

I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.

Feature overview and not a 'how to guide' 7 Sep 2010
By Ed Pitoire - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was expecting a project based approach to creating Dashboards using Performance Point and SharePoint. This book is basically a rundown of setting up the environment , tools , workspace structure and features. To be honest, I am not quite sure what this book is trying to accomplish and I am no further ahead in my quest to create effective Dashboard solutions.
