This book will help you through the exam, there is no doubt about that, but I feel it has little value after that. The Administration book for 70-668, by the same author, achieves the same aim but you also have a book that will continue to provide value after the exam or if you aren't taking the exam.
Once you've accounted for the study questions, and walk throughs, there isn't enough editorial in my opinion.
Don't rely on the study guides to get you through the exam, use it as a cross reference with other books, practice exams and SharePoint implementations to work on.

This is a decent book. If you are sitting the Config exam it's a must. I have the Kindle version.
If you are not sitting the exam then it's still worth reading because the questions cover a lot of ground and knowing the answers is going to be good news for your client(s) or employer.

I purchased this book to help me prepare for the "70-667 Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Configuration" exam. I found it an invaluable study aid as well as a very readable and thorough book.
The material is well presented with a good mixture of text and exercises (walkthroughs) that show the reader how to configure various aspects of SharePoint 2010. The text is concise, well explained and contains references to Technet and MSDN for further information.
The main highlight of the book for me is the large set of review questions at the back of each chapter (20 per chapter over 15 chapters), the initial assessment (another 30) test and two bonus tests (yet another 50 questions each on the CD only). If my maths is right that's 430 "practice" questions!
Having the book in PDF form on the accompanying CD also massively useful to me. The PDF is searchable. I also found that having electronic (Adobe Flash) versions of all the tests was a far more convenient way of testing myself on the material than using the book.
My only (very minor) criticism of the book is that technical and editorial reviewing of the book could have been more thorough. I came across quite a few typos in the book (for example "Multi-Tendency" instead of "Multi-Tenancy"); as well as some minor presentation bugs in the software included on the CD. However, these minor issues don't detract from the usefulness of the book in any way.
I would strongly recommended this book to anyone planning in taking their 70-667 exam!
