Pocket review for pocket consultant book.,

This review is from: Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Pocket Consultant (Administrator's Pocket Consultant) (Paperback)
There are some books you just know you need to have. This is one. No nonsense jammed full of content and task oriented with ordered lists that simply tell you how to get things done. Invaluable.

Reference you can use as tutorial,
By Timothy Wade "New Professor" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Pocket Consultant (Administrator's Pocket Consultant) (Paperback)
This is well organized as a reference, but also works great if you're in a learning mode, as I am. I have often looked up a chapter about something I didn't know how to do, read through the chapter and completed the task successfully. If you're a SharePoint administrator, it's an reference that doesn't weight a ton or cost a mint. If you're a new administrator or a developer being tasked with unfamiliar administrative duties, this book is a must-have.
Don't be fooled by the word "Pocket" in the title. While it's significantly smaller and lighter than the ton-of-bricks twelve-hundred-page technical books that are currently popular, it's a serious book with in-depth explanations covering around 600 pages. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful:

Very Nice SharePoint Reference,
By Daniel McKinnon "Dan" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Pocket Consultant (Administrator's Pocket Consultant) (Paperback)
I've really been impressed by Microsoft Press titles, they are of very, very high quality and this book fits the bill at as well. The 'Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Pocket Consultant' is perfect for any SharePoint admin that needs a reference by their side. Online refs are great, but if you want something you can easily LEARN from, having a book as your co-pilot is still the right way to go in this reviewers opinion.
One thing that I think that might be overlooked about this book and other Pocket guides is the work that went into the ergonomics of these books. The materials feel right, and the size of the book just yells READ ME FEEL ME PICK ME UP!!! Does this matter really? Yes it does. A book that is more easily accessible is analogous to someone that is more apt to carry their 4lb laptop with a magazine footprint vs a 7lb laptop with the footprint of a 23" monitor. If you are a SharePoint person, pick this wonderful guide up, it will help you in so many ways. ***** RECOMMENDED 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

You need big pockets,
By Brian Barry - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Pocket Consultant (Administrator's Pocket Consultant) (Paperback)
A very helpful reference, but not what I would call a pocket guide. It is over 1.5 inches thick. I already had Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administrator's Companion and found this book to be just as thourough. A true shirt pocket guide to SharePoint 2010 would be great.
