Microsoft LifeCam Show

I'm a little disappointed considering the good reviews from this. I had the Lifecam-VX 2000 before this and there's not that much difference between the two in my opinion. Visually, the Lifecam show is better, although it goes a bit funny in brightly lit rooms, but audio wise they're pretty similar.
As mentioned in the other reviews, the USB wire is TINY! Not too much of a problem for laptop users like me, but if using the stand, the choice of places to put it is very limited. Also, the stand itself is not very helpful as it's not adjustable in height and you can't rotate it. The magnet clip to attach it onto the monitor is good though.
Overall, I would recommend this to people who need a webcam, but don't wanna empty their savings on one.

Hi, I'm Doc from GlowGadgets and I Love the Lifecam Show webcam. It's clear picture, great sound with noise cancelling technology, small size and portability make it a winner. Perfect at home or on the move.

I've tried many different webcams, usually you expect to get better quality the more you pay. The Lifecam Show does the job better than my more expensive webcam.

Yes the USB lead is only about 0.5mtr, my PC is right next to my monitor, no problem.

The weighted stand it comes with is great because one thing I have never liked about webcams is that no matter where they are attached to your screen, you're never looking into the lens when talking to someone. You are looking at them rather then the camera, so eye contact is usually one way only.

With the Lifecam Show, the stand means you can put the webcam right infront of the screen with the persons face right behind it. As you are looking at them, you are looking at the lens too.

I know, it means moving the webcam about, big deal, in my job I call that "Exercise".

It installed simply on my Vista machine and as soon as I plugged it in I was using it on skype with no problems, dropped frames or freezing. Unlike my last, more expensive cam.

The software has playful functions such as adding a pair of sunglasses to your face, making you look like a cat, wearing a big wig, hat or look like you are at the seaside. All pointless fun but with a couple of exceptions. One setting allows your face to be clear with your surroundings blurred. No matter were you move you face stays in focus.

The face recognition works well and the zoom feature with panning means you don't need to have the cam so close.

It comes with a little case to carry the webcam around in, should you travel with it. Plus a small clip with a magnet and two sticky magnets.

FYI: the round dimple on the camera, below the lens is magnetic. The clip, the stand and the two magnets are all shaped to fit inside like a magnetic cup, it also has one on the back. Thought you'd like to know :o)

I give this cam full marks. It really is a great webcam & for the price it's a steal. I'm glad I got mine, so is everyone I chat with. Especially when I use the cowboy hat!

Picture is very clear, can't find any faults with it at all. Microphone is very good, voice can be heard clearly without any delays.
The accessories including the stand and protective case are very useful, they make using the webcam a lot easier.
The only disadvantage is that it takes a little while to download the software because the file is so big. However, it is easy to install once downloaded.
The literature in the box is also useful because it is clear and easy to understand, allowing you to set up the webcam quickly and sufficiently.
I would definetly recommend this product as it is extremely great value for money.
