5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the cover., 2 Nov 2002
By A. Mckinnon (Scotland, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Coming from MS Press you'd expect the Authors to know the subject, and they do.
The book comes complete with a CD containing a trial version of MS Project 2002 Standard and sample files.
The book contains 20 chapters which take you steadily through the features of Project 2002 Standard, from entering tasks through assigning resources and tracking the progress.
I've only spotted 1 small mistake in the book where an excercise didn't work exactly as described but all the instructions worked perfectly.
I last used Project about 5 years ago so was quite familiar with what the software should be able to achieve, it's changed quite a bit over time and the book really showed me where. Having said that, it doesn't assume any previous experience and explains the project management terminology as it goes.
In the appendices you get an introduction to MS Project Server and Professional versions along with an introduction to project management.
All in all a good book. With the demo version of the software it's a good way to evaluate and learn the software before buying it.
