Excellent overview and coverage of hybrid options 3 Jun. 2012
By Robert D. Crane - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book provides a great overview of Office 365 Exchange options. Where it also shines is the step by step process it takes you though when it comes to implementing the more complex hybrid options including DirSync and ADFS. You can read the Microsoft documentation but a simple overview followed by a step by step process with screen shots makes comprehension much easier.

The book makes an excellent read for those looking to get into Office 365 and understand how to make it work. Even though not everyone will be interested in the more complex hybrid arrangements it is still worthwhile working through these so you do understand what is involved as the standard Microsoft technical documentation can be very hard to understand and follow at times. The book is easy to read and doesn't get too bogged down in the low level technical so it is quite suitable for a wide range of technical audiences. It does however delve deeply enough into the complexities to provide real value for those who are looking to implement these complex features. It doesn't try to provide all the answers simply a guide to how it all should work. I believe this makes it a great place to start for people looking to exactly what the book title says - Exchange Online Implementation and Migration.

As the name suggests, the books is mainly focused around Exchange but there us also plenty of general Office 365 information contained within, especially in the beginning. I would certainly recommend this book to people who are looking to better understand the options for Exchange Online configuration and migration. It is a worthwhile addition to the bookshelf of anyone working on, or planning to work on Office 365 Exchange.

The best of scattered Microsoft documentation glued together with bullet points. 1 Dec. 2012

Overall, this book strikes me as incomplete as if it were written before the product was released. Much of the material is introductory in nature or otherwise feels like a regurgitation of the Microsoft marketing material. It lacks nuts and bolts detail of how and why things work the way they do behind the scenes and instead specifies step by step instructions in an uninspired "click here ... then click there" manner.

Great product that allowed me to sync my iphone with MS Outlook. It was not a seamless process, and better documentation and instructions would help. I certainly recommend it for MS Outlook.

This book provides a detailed implementation guide for migrating from on premise environment to Microsoft Office 365. The different Office 365 plans are described and differentiated. The writing is clear and concise. Both GUI and PowerShell command line examples are provided. Lastly, I found the references section very helpful.
