3.0 out of 5 stars Greatness doesn't come for cheap 9 April 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Ninja Blade ain't great. Not by a long stretch of the imagination. It is, however, pretty damn fun.
It's hard to get excited about this game to be honest. I don't think I've ever played a game that so competently gave me a good, fun experience whilst at the same time remaining ultimately forgettable. Even now, just a few short days after completing it, I find it hard to remember much about what went on in the game. I know the story was silly in a knowing it was silly way, the gameplay was good whilst not being inventive and the boss battles were fun with a good sense of scale. There are a lot of quick time events (hitting buttons when they flash up on screen) and although generally I'm not a fan of these I somehow wasn't bothered by them here. You mess up and the scene rewinds a few seconds and gives you another go at it. A great idea more games of this type should try out.
For those of you looking for a challenge you probably won't find one here and honestly I would recommend that you not look for one. Just start the game on Normal mode sit back and enjoy some good old fashioned hack and slashing. This ain't God of War or Devil May Cry, but it doesnt need to be. This is a game you should buy for a tenner, play through once, have a great time with and then forget about and move on.
Try it, it's cheap!

4.0 out of 5 stars Derivative, but still fun 23 April 2009

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game borrows elements from God of War, Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia. Despite the extreme lack of originality, I still found it a lot of fun to play. The combat is satisfying and the often criticised QTEs added to the game for me, especially as if you make a mistake the game rewinds a couple of steps and you can try again. It avoids the frustration while keeping some level of interaction, and I'd rather have that than a basic cut scene (in a game of this type at least).

I don't think there's a huge level of replay value, but if you enjoyed games such as GOW and Ninja Gaiden, perhaps give it a try. It's not as good as either of those games, but if you're a fan of the genre it's worth a look. I was stuck between giving it 3 or 4 stars. I think it falls somewhere between the two, but closer to 4 than 3.

3.0 out of 5 stars about as original as a pirate DVD 23 Sep 2009
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Ninja blade rips off so many other games it is hard to say where to start listing, so I won't.
It is a basic hack and slach with a little platforming thrown it, and a lot of quick time events, a hell of a lot. The graphics are nice enough, they look specatular despite not being all that great.
The annoying thing about the game is the saving as you cannot save in mission, or at least mine wouldn't, this makes it a lot harder to progress on it as I don't alway have that much time to play games.
All the bad aside it is actually quite fun and the big spectaular boss fights do the job nicely, it isn't a classic but get it cheap in it is worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monsters Vs Ninja 31 May 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ninja Blade has a lot going for it. It is an extremely fun game. The cinematics are amazing and the gameplay sweet. The games biggest feature has to be the quick time events (QTE) that fill about 70% of the game. For those who don't know, QTE are segmants of the game where buttons must be pressed at the right time when they appear on the screen to continue the cinematic battle taking place. At times this can be frustrating (especially when you're not expecting it) but it is very worth while to do. The ninja stunts are highly improbable (surfing a missile into a helicopter or riding a wrecking ball into the face of a giant spider for example)but they look fantastic and leave you wishing that James Bond had recieved ninja training too.
There's not much in the way of story, mainly just people in Tokyo are turning into monsters and only a ninja can save the day, but that doesn't really bother me. Sometimes all you want to do is sit back, relax and plunge a katana into a mutant bat. This game provides that.
The game also supports minor features such as upgrading your weapons and magic skills (fire is my favourite. Crispy zombie anyone?)and personalising your ninjas clothes. They work well and adds a dimension to a game that only has about 9 levels. (although they are very LONG levels filled to the brim with boss battles and QTE)
Overall, unless you have an aversion to ninjas, blood, action, monsters, QTE or fun, you will love this game. It helps to nurture the ninja within.

the graphics and the control are excellent, but the variety of the levels is limited, its a little bit short game but interesting how i wish a ninja game moves you from the city to jungles
