Fun and varied, 14 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Both our 4 and 7 yr old children greatly enjoy playing with this CD. There are a wide variety of activities and games (penguin and food chain are favorites, but more are discovered as exploration continues...), most of which stimulate spatial and fine motor skills. In addition, there are creative activities, and you can learn something about animals and their environment.

Good game, good number of activities, plenty of learning about how animals suit different habitats, 30 Dec 2007
(This refers to the newer XP etc edition, I don't know if it differs from this version or not)
This is one of the best Magic School bus games I think, there are a good number of activities, and it is easy to see where the activities are,
In the game there are 4 animals that are in the wrong habitat, and you have to find them, so Miss Frizzle can pop them back where they belong.
In addition to this main activity that runs throughout the game, you can :
-click on people and animals to find out facts,
-click on the microphone and click on the animal to hear its sound,
-use the x-ray glasses to see the skeleton of many of the animals in the habitat.
-use the magnifying glass to take a closer look at some part of the nature in the habitat, and hear a fact about it
-click on picture on a stone in most areas to play a game in that area, such as -tag the animals that share common features e.g. nocturnal, live in water etc,
-click on a picture on a stone in most or all areas to make pictures of the habitat using plants, animals etc from that habitat (as well as magic school bus people)
-click on a pile of bones on each wild habitat and build up a skeleton from the habitat (easy, medium, hard levels)
click on a bag to see reports. including little films about animals, e.g. the report 'Birds by Carlos', it has 'What makes a bird a bird?(short film) 'Owls' (photos and talking about them), 'Birdbeaks'(photos and talking about beaks, uses, how different beaks suit their feeding etc),
There are more than 4 areas so it can be tricky to find the right animal at first, but the game lets you keep trying to guess, and it gives good reason why you are wrong (if you are wrong of course) and learn more about how animals suit different habitats.
There are also a list of clues (3 per animal) on the clipboard in the magic school bus to help you guess which animals they are.
..and you even get a certificate with each animal you find**)
I think the game could be even better, e.g. even more activities (it has a good number though, especially compared to many kids games on the market), more variety of bones to build, explanation/exploration of evolution/Gaia from the initial showing how different animals suit different area but as it is, it is still a very good game.
