By far the greatest keyboard ever!, 10 Oct 2002
By A Customer
As most people know Microsoft make the best and most popular operating systems, but when it comes to computer peripherals users very rarely buy Microsofts own products. This should stop, now.The majority of people have a copy of Windows installed, together with a copy of Microsoft Office and this is where this keyboard comes into its own. Not only does it come with the standard setup, qwerty layout and the numeric keypad but the amount of extras that have been added are truly phenomenal. A lot of keyboards come with multimedia keys that promise a lot, but are rarely used. This is different. As its designed for Office, keys are there for Word, Excel, Outlook Express, Internat Explorer, file explorer. Together with volume controls including mute. All of these keys perform as a shortcut, and can be cutomised with the great software that comes with the keyboard. What you really start to notice is the F keys. They have been reassigned to perform tasks such as help, new, open, close, reply, fw, send. All the things you use if using Microsoft products! There are even buttons for undo and redo. The designers have also realised the number one problem with people typing, people pressing the insert button by mistake and have moved it out of harms way. Brilliant. More advanced buttons are palced on the left of the keyboard for cut, copy and paste together with forward and back and a lovely feeling scroll bar. Truly magnificent. The keyboard is smooth to the touch, oozing class and quality with every key pressed. A built in wrisrest comes as standard, meaning the keyboard may not squeeze into a tight spot between a mouse and another device, but those with an abundance of room will love it. Now onto the mouse. A wirelss optical mouse, brilliant. No wires, no mess means you never have the tangle of wires again! The ergonics of the mouse are brilliant, it feels like this is what your hand has been missing. The placement of buttons is perfect, including the twp normal buttons, scroll, scroll button and thumb buttons. The mouse is slightly larger than the teathered version, but this helps you keep hold of it a bit better with it being wireless. Runs on 2 batteries and performs well without noticing the difference in response, except slightly in high speed FPS games. Overall a fantastic keyboard and mouse setup, perfect for those looking for a completely black system, and sick of cheap feeling keyboards. Major downside form a personal point of view is the F lock key (which acts like a caps lock enabling the F keys) defaults to off on a rebott, but not too much of a problem. Also the F keys are grouped into 3's rather than the standard 4's. If you have a black PC, buy this. Simple as that. If yo udont, buy a black system then but this. Simply beatiful.
