I liked the the look of this mouse, relatively small, as well as the lack of a scrolling wheel, which I thought would be an advantage. What is also neat is the spring loaded compartment for the small usb receiver. Build quality seems good. In use I found the scrolling action not to be particularly smooth with the (internal) wheel vibrating constantly as you scroll....this is supposed to be 'feedback' for the user but I found it a bit annoying. When you 'flick' on the scroll pad to go to the top of a page, when you get there the internal wheel keeps on going..I know all you have to do is tap the pad to stop the wheel...maybe that's just something you have to get used to with this mouse. The mouse seems to work on most surfaces, but felt a more deliberate action was required than with my previous mouse. It's also the first mouse I've had with really noticeable mechanical noise, due do the constant whirring and vibration 'feedback', possibly loud enough to be noticed by someone sitting next to you. Not (really) bad, but not great either.

This is well made and works well enough. It's also a good weight.
Trouble is, to my normal sized male hands, it feels small, and I fear that regular use over a long time will potentially lead to the RSI known as carpal tunnel syndrome - which is an excruciatingly painful condition.
This mouse is probably perfectly good for those with smaller hands - ie women and children - but those with larger hands might prefer to get a more suitable mouse.

Perfect. The vibration feature on scrolling is actually very nice and realistic. The only thing I'd be aware of when buying is that this mouse won't scroll your screen smoothly like an Apple Magic Mouse does, rather it will scroll a set amount of spaces along your screen. This can be fine tuned with the free software that gets downloaded when you plug it in.

I know Microsoft produce quality computer items, having used various different items in the past. However, apart from the look and feel of the item, which is pretty comfortable and neat, I have nothing that good to say about it.

It seems the frequency of the mouse is prone to interference from other equipment, meaning that it is slow and often 'sticks' moving across the page. I found it to be so slow moving across the page at one stage, that I gave up and went back to my old mouse. My recommendation, go for something with a higher frequency like a Rapoo 5GHZ mouse, which is far less likely to be prone to interference from other equipment.

I bought it as a gaming mouse, big mistake, definitely not for gaming hence 2 stars litte too flat for me as well , would hurt fingers on prolonged use I think.

Bought this for work as the hot desk mice were always broken. This is a fantastic piece of kit with the ability to scroll horizontally as well as vertically via the multi touch pad that replaces the scroll wheel. The only drawback is that you have to install separate drivers from the microsoft site to the standard plug and play ones to get the horizontal scroll working. Vertical works fine.
