Superb Little Web Cam 12 Jun 2010

The picture quality from this small web cam is absolutely superb! Even in low light it preforms brilliantly! It is simply streets ahead of similar products in this price range. Sound quality from the built in microphone is also very good.
The only problem I encountered was when trying to install the software using the supplied CD. I was told the product was incompatibile with the Windows 7 operating system.
The solution was simple! I just connected the device anyway and the required software/drivers etc. were automatically downloaded from the Microsoft web site! Sorted!

This web cam is a very good product we use it to talk with pictures to relations in Alberta Canada, they say the picture is very clear and the sound is a lot better than the last we you had used, Excellent thanks Microsoft!!

There are webcams and there are webcams, and then there are hundreds of webcam reviews so it's a minefield out there! I use a a Logitech Pro 9000 for my main computer so needed a cheapy one for the spare computer. I have bought a couple of cheap ones in this last year that I have given them away as I was so disappointed with the manufacturer telling me how marvellous they were - I'm sure their marketing department make good yearly bonuses.
Then along comes the LifeCam VX5500, and for not much more money than the cheaper webcams I had previouly wasted my money one, this little cracker is almost as good as my expensive Logitech. Amazon have certainly made this little gem very affordable.

LifeCam VX550

Easy to install and configure. Reasonable feedback regarding qulity of image, although this is dependant on Internet bandwidth - Happy!
