Rodent Review 1 Nov 2009
Bought my first Intellimouse Explorer 3 several years ago and now have three, one for each of my computers. This latest purchase was to replace my first one, which sadly had to be put to rest when the left button developed a mind of it's own, but it had seen many years of hard service.

I have nothing but praise for this mouse, as it is easy to use and set up, is very comfortable in use, and my three have been very reliable. Some reviewers complain of a "clunky" feel to the mouse wheel, which is correct when first used, but in my experience this soon "runs itself in", after which it is a pleasure to use. The programmable buttons allow it to be easily configured to suit the needs of most users.

I am a software developer and have been using computers since the 1960's, and have used many mice since they were first introduced, and in my opinion this is the very best.

This is a great mouse, especially for gaming and other precision work. Its lightweight and feels good in the hand. More importantly, because of its weight (or lack of), it can be moved using just the fingers (resting the heel of your hand in one place). This allows for precise movements which are essential for gaming but equally useful for precise desktop aplications - photoshop, etc). The problem that I found with wireless mice is that the extra weight from the batteries and other electronic innards detracts significantly from the precision and control that you feel - it has more intertia I suppose.
I have the original intellimouse 3.0 as well which is still going strong after 6 years. This new version has a higher dpi count but I dont notice that too much. What I do notice is that the buttons have a better subjective feel to them - a little more of a "solid" feel than the old one.
All in all, highly recommended. I have tried many wireless mice from Logitech and Microsoft and other wired mice. This is the best by far, even though its a re-release. I suppose if you got it right the first time, why change anything?

Since I started playing Counter Strike Source a little more seriously I've been looking for the perfect mouse for it.

At present I have 2 versions of the Logitech G5 and a Razer Copperhead. While the G5 and Copperhead have their good points they also have bad ones some of which are inexcusable in my mind (drivers and firmware installation from Razer).

The Intellimouse, in my opinion, out performs the other 2 for FPS. It has the speed of a 2000DPI laser mouse in a twitch of the wrist and the precision of a lower end dpi mouse when you track the mouse slowly without having to make minute movements when compared to the laser mice for the same effect.

I've been using the G5 and Copperhead for months now. I found out which was better for myself but that mouse still didn't feel 'right'. The Intellimouse does. It has the right fit in your palm, a good all round weight and runs/tracks smoothly on all surfaces with the optical engine and new feet pads.

Those of you wanting the performance of a high end laser mouse without paying the price should seriously consider this produect.

Casual/hardcore gamer or photoshopper, this is the perfect mouse.

You may also want to note the software should be installed BEFORE plugging in the mouse and also this software WILL NOT run parallel to Logitech's Setpoint.
