Microsoft AutoRoute 2005 is the all-in-one travel and mapping solution that delivers a comprehensive array of maps, points of interest, routes, driving directions, and Pocket PC and Smartp hone compatibility all in one value-priced software package.GPS Support. AutoRoute 2005 allows you to find your location while on the road with a G PS device running NMEA 2.0 or later. Simply plug the device into the computer running AutoRoute and see your location.
Includes updated detailed street-level maps of Europe comprising 4.7 m illion kilometres of streets and highways.
Greater than 75% coverage in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Luxembour g, Monaco, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey & Vatican Cty.
Street Level date for between 50% and 75% of the population base for Finland & Spain.

Route Planner. With Route Planner, you can view, add, delete , and rearrange destinations. Route Planner also lets you set fuel costs, driving speed, preferred roads, and preferred routes (for example, shortest or quickest). If you have multiple destination s, AutoRoute can optimize your route.
Find What's Nearby. Locate points of interest on your route or virtually anywhere on the map. There are over 800,000 points of interest including over 140,000 restaurants, 60,000 hotels, 4,000 golf courses and more.
Maps on the go. You can download maps from our website or export an area from AutoRoute 2005 for use with Microsoft Pocket S treets for your Pocket PC or Windows Mobile Smartphone. Pocket Streets supports GPS and integrates with Pocket Outlook so you can easily map a contact or appointment location.
Microsoft Off ice integration. Import data from Microsoft Excel or the Outlook messaging and collaboration client directly into AutoRoute.
Drive-time zones. Generate zones from a specific location, indi cating points that can be reached by car in an equal amount of time.
Patented Snap Routing technology. Use Snap Routing to drag and drop a route anywhere, changing the route to your preference. Then watch it snap into place while the map and driving directions recalculate automatically even for the most complex journey.
Pushpins. Choose from more than 256 Pushpin symbols to mark particular addresses or places on the map, or import your own.
Whether you are planning a long-distance trip, want to find your way around an unfamiliar town, or are trying to find a restaurant or cash machine (ATM) in your hometown, AutoRoute 2005 provides accurate information quickly.

Don't upgrade to this from previous editions!,

Thought my 2003 edition was getting a bit out of date - Microsoft's own Website trumpets 2005 has "high quality up-to-date mapping" so went ahead and wasted £35.00 on something that I immediately noticed omits the M6 Toll Road and the M4/A34 interchange upgrade, two of the most significant road schemes in the UK and both opened long before 2005!! If I could be bothered to look, I'm sure there would be plenty of other such examples too. Complained to Microsoft and their reply (as with other reviewer) was that the mapping companies charge them too much money therefore it would make the product prohibitively expensive. Come on Microsoft - you are pushing the boundaries of Trades Descriptions when you describe something as "up-to-date" when you admit yourselves that critical elements (like the MAPS!!) haven't in fact been updated at all.

The 2005 version has all the same errors as the 2004 and 2003 in fact other than being a bit out of date on some of the major new roads the 2002 has the best detail. Microsoft are definitely pushing the boundaries of the trade descriptions act, wish I'd never wasted the money

I was going to upgrade to the latest version but found from a friend that the M6 toll road has not been reflected in the maps that accompany the software. Neither have the modifications to the M2 junction with the A229. Until MS upgrade their maps this product will be a waste of money because it will make you expend more money on being misrouted than you would save by planning your route properly. Reading the on-line reviews has confirmed that I have made the right decision. On-line route planners may not give as much info as Autoroute but at least their maps are up to date.
