Well worth buying

I am looking at implementing Sharepoint; with no previous experience, I needed something that would help me understand the product, and show me the way to install and manage it as an administrator. This book does exactly that!

It is broken down into logical sections that make it easy to dip in and out as required. The text is well written and reasonably easy to follow; although there are a few sections where new users may need to cover the topics more than once.

If you are looking to install ths product, I would strongly suggest that you consider buying this book; I think that you will find it well worth the money.

Needed for exams or day to day administration

If you are studying for the implementing MOSS 2007 exam then this book is definitely needed for the sections of the exam which are not covered on the Microsoft course. It's also good to reinforce your knowledge in other areas and the book goes into great depth.
Obviously SharePoint is a huge area that the book can not cover every single problem you may come across but reading this manual or referring to it will give you a much better understanding of how MOSS and WSS works therefore helping you to solve problems much easier.
I recommend this book for anyone who administrates MOSS at a high level.

Great book, terrible index

Very comprehensive book but the indexing is terrible - much of the information in the book would remain unread forever if you relied on the index. Luckily, the book includes an electronic version (PDF) that you can search instead. If you need a reference book for SharePoint admin, this is it.

An indispensable guide to MOSS

No matter what your technical skills or experience with SharePoint technologies this book has something for you. Written by Bill English, the foremost expert on SharePoint there is, it provides a straight forward and practical guide to deploying, maintaining, tuning and migrating Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007. The approach taken is a practical guide, with details of potential sticking points.
The included CD includes a pdf version of the book so it is always available when you need it.
