More then expected 5 Sep 2009
By Chuck Butwill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
When the book was received got right to work in reading it. Was off to a fast start in learning basic programing. They took every step in explaining what to do and why in very nontechnical terms so as it is very understandable and enjoyable. I highly recommend the book for someone that wants to learn basic programing with out spending a great deal of money just some time.

Best wishes,
Chuck

Excellent Book for the Beginner 2 Jan 2011
By Jeffrey T. Maxfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a great book for beginners. I would recommend Wally Wang's "Beginning Programming All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies" as the first book to read. Then read this book. Wally will prepare you and give you a head start and make the going even easier. It does what it promises and does it for its intended audience: beginners. I was able to code the examples and made some of my own changes to further my understanding. It is not a book for learning Computer Science. I have tried other books and struggled with them. I am not a professional and want to learn how to program for my own uses. Do I think I could get a job programming after reading this book? No. But I am prepared to go farther in developing my programming skills thanks to this book. Everyone has to start somewhere. This book is a good place to start.

Disappointing 8 Dec 2010
By Truthful - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the first time I have felt compelled to give a bad review. The book should have been very interesting but when I pulled down VB 2008 Express software from Microsoft it does not match the text in the book. Many prompts do not work at all. In fact, none of the three first projects worked at all. I contacted the publisher tech help and they were no help at all. I hired a computer professional and he was unable to find a way to make the software match the book. This experience has cost me over $60.00 before I had to pull the plug. I have since ordered two books that come with the software in the form of a "kit." Let my loss save you some money.
