A great grater. 5 Mar 2009
This is a brilliant little tool, where I work we have multiple of them and they get used every day.
We use them for zesting citrus fruits, grating hard cheeses (grana padano, parmesan), crushing garlic. And anything else we want really fine, really quickly.
It's very easy to use and saves a huge amount of time compared to other graters which seem to 'snag' the food as it passes over it.
I've never had the 'water dripping' problem myself, so in my book this gadget gets 5 stars, and if I was ever searching for a present for someone who loves cooking, this is what I would get.

Have owned one of these for about 3 years now and I reserve it exclusively for zesting, nutmeg and parmesan. Initially it was extremely sharp but I agree with another user's post that this item is not at all durable and this is not satisfactory for the price asked and paid.

The grating blade doesnt grate as well anymore and the plastic frame has stress cracks. The plastic cover that ships with the item has also deteriorated even though I'm always very careful to use the sponge side of my 3M non scratch scourer to clean it. (minus 3 stars)

Honestly, I've used this item less than 100 times in the 3 years i've owned it so not good enough. (minus one more star)

Comparatively, I now own a cuisinepro grater (bought it about 1 year ago) and find myself now reaching for that one instead which still grates really well one year on.

I don't recommend this product at all. Maybe the metal/professional ones by Microplane are better but with the blade issues i've had so far, I'm not going to spend my hard earned cash to find out.

While I'll admit that this is a good grater for fine zesting, Parmesan, nutmeg etc - the blades are still sharp a year on but the plastic handle snapped off after about 9 months of use - the same thing happened with my previous micro plane grater. This is clearly a design flaw as the action of grating puts stress on the plastic frame. I wouldn't buy the plastic framed version again but will certainly consider the all steel version which is available.

Great Product
I really like this grater, it grates food very, very fine. I wish I got the next grater size up as I prefer food to be a little bigger when I grate it. Read more
