I have just purchased the Neuropad2, my main requirement is Skype and as it was advertised as a Skype device I had reasonable expectations. However whilst video is OK the sound produced by the mic is very low. The same problem exists with the sound recorder app. Has anyone overcome this problem with the Neuropad2. The supplier suggested looking for a mic volume app but I cannot find one.
I don't personally find the levels too bad, but then I don't use Skype a huge amount. I've done a bit more digging on the web, I think generally the issue is between ICS and Skype. Skype have a huge amount of issues generally, which is why an older version is preloaded. Many of the ICS ROM's don't seem to have the ability to increase the microphone levels, seen people complaining about this for all sorts of devices, like Asus Transformer etc. It maybe that if new versions are released later on they will include this.
Lee - Thanks for the feedback. I have tried some apps that claim to acces the mic gain but none work so far. It's not only Skype - the voice recorder function is also poor. Hopefully there will be an upgrade to Android 4.0.3 that will address this issue. - Regards.
I have been able to improve the mic volume on Skype. Plug a battery powered speaker in to the headphone socket & turn down the speaker volume to an acceptable level (skype defaults to maximum). Place the speaker well away from the mic. (I use an extension lead) For some reason this boosts the microphone volume to an acceptable level. (It may be something to do with noise canceling?) This works OK for me using the Skype version supplied with the tablet.
