Reviews

Critically acclaimed comedian Micky Flanagan presents his highly anticipated debut stand-up DVD of his nationwide sell-out ‘Out Out’ tour. One of the UK's hottest comedians, star of Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and The Royal Variety Performance, ruthlessly deconstructs the East End myth with razor sharp observational wit. He tells a comic tale of a working class upbringing, where alphabetti spaghetti is a luxury. Micky has come a long way since then. Thanks to a university education he is now a rare delight–-an intellectual cockney. Not bad for the boy from Bethnal Green. Having been nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for best newcomer, his Radio 4 series What Chance Change? was an instant hit with listeners and critics alike.

“Side-splittingly funny”--Stephen Armstrong, The Sunday Times
“Gut-wrenchingly hilarious”--John Nicholson, Daily Mirror
“Arguably the funniest comedian in Britain… the future of comedy”--Frank Skinner, Absolute Radio

The out out tour is legendary! I saw parts of the out out tour on tv a few years back, and this really got me in to Micky. The material is great and Micky pulls it off well, if you haven't seen it then its worth buying! Though saying that this tour has done my head in. Since the first time I saw Micky on tv, and started to follow him, he just used the same material over and over and over again. And now that same material is on dvd. Micky you need to keep it fresher, your stuff is funny, but you need to prove yourself, we need funny new material regularly! Instead of being the guy who did the out out tour for years, then retired, because he had no more material as good. Overall, would defo buy if not previously seen, but the out out tour has now been milked well and truly dry.

Very funny guy, had seen on TV and was keen to get the DVD and totally lived up to expectation. Way funnier than the latest Peter Kay DVD and recommend this to anyone although some of the language can be a tad strong. 9 out of 10........

I saw the Out Out set live in Liverpool in October, and it was extremely funny throughout. Whilst there's liberal effing & jeffing, Micky gets away with it because of the sheer likeability of his personality. Never trying too hard, and happily sending himself up, he weaved through a range of subjects, from his somewhat dozy childhood and late discovery of education, 80's courtship rituals and out out nightclubbing in his (red leatherette, very tasteful) carpet slippers. He finished up with his absolutely hilarious take on the art of the peeping tom, which had the audience howling. Easily one of the very best stand up shows I've seen, with an effortless feelgood factor - absolutely unmissable.

Micky Flanagan was a bit like Michael McIntyre in that he suddenly appeared out of nowhere and was seemingly on everything. That's no bad thing though as Micky Flanagan is one of the best new comedians out there.

This DVD is a really great watch. I've never seen Micky live, only bits of him on the panel shows he frequents but there is something very like-able about the working class east end geezer. Anyway, we got this DVD over Christmas and had a really good laugh. I've watched it a couple of times since and really enjoyed it.

The humour is observational and genuinely funny tackling everything from first sexual experiences to toilet mis-haps and married life. The material is funny because it's so true and relatable and Micky puts it over in such a funny way.

There were a couple of passages where things seemed to lose a bit of steam, nothing major and overall the disc will have you in stitches.

8.5 out of ten.

I was worried when I bought this, as I feared that I'd have seen a lot of the material used before in the many panel shows and Live At The Apollo's he's done. There was quite a bit of stuff he'd used before but it was mixed in with his new stuff so it all flowed quite nicely. He is a very funny comedian and is worthy of high praise and is gifted at telling stories about his experiences and making people laugh, and HE WILL make you laugh.
On the whole I was left slightly underwhelmed, however I do like him and would buy his material again. Its always the same problem with these DVD's, you watch comedy programmes and find someone you like, you watch other stuff they're in and then when it comes to their DVD you feel a bit shortchanged as you've seen their material before.
If you're unsure, maybe wait until its reduced in price a bit.

I suppose you could say this about any stand-up DVD, but it's not worth buying because once you've seen it a couple of times you will have committed all the jokes to memory and it won't be funny anymore. With a big TV comic like Micky Flanagan you also have the added problem that you will have seen most of his best material before. All that said, he is a funny man, so it is worth a watch, but probably not worth buying

Micky's my favourite comedian right now and having seen him on all the main panel shows thought I'd invest in a DVD of his stage show. I wasn't disappointed. The guy, unlike so many current 'funny men' is both a superb panelist on other people's shows, but can also keep an audience in raptures across more than an hour of stand up. Catch him love or on DVD if you can. Best stand up show I've seen since Jack Dee.
