What a gift, this book! My children now have a new friend by their side - brave Giotto - in their own quest of self-discovery and exploration and that building of trust in their own unique talents and offerings. From page one David Clement-Davies' inimitable gift of story telling and ability to capture the imagination of the young reader has had the two of them glued to my side while reading to them. They followed and fevered with Giotto on his adventure packed journey from under-appreciated family member in his small Italian village to celebrated artist and hero of Renaissance Florentine, while leaping up lessons on political and art history, with shining eyes. I can only but recommend this book.
A wonderful,funny story about an artistic mouse which has everything! A rip-roaring adventure set in Renaissance Italy, with great characters based on 'real-life' historical goodies and baddies - Macchiavelli, the Medici & Mafiosi Mice! But above all a fun way for kids (and the not so young) to find about about great art, artists, Renaissance history with a heart-warming moral about integrity and never giving up!
David has written a delightful story, entertaining and easy to read. In fact, it is ideal for parents to read to their kids. A few hours of old fashioned fun, which both parent and child will enjoy.
