Well the good news is that the photography is so beautiful that it makes the text in the book superfluous. The bad news, if there is any, is that the English translation of the original Italian text is so poor that it is virtually unreadable. For a book of this quality the publishers should have employed a native English speaker to do the translation work.
Don't let this small quibble about the text put you off buying the book as the photos are what it's all about - there are plenty of them and they are so wonderful that you'll be delighted with it!

I've wanted to purchase the 'proper' retrospective for some time, but never been able to justify the price. With so much of Kenna's work on his website, I've always felt I could get my fix there. Of course, even in the age of PDF monographs, nothing compares to a book of reproductions.
Upon receiving the book, I was initially quite pleased with the size - assuming a cheaper retrospective would be considerably smaller format, if not lacklustre in print quality. I'm happy to say the reproductions are very good too. I've never been to an exhibition of his work, but I'd known that his prints are grainy, even in their small 8x8" presentation. My fear was that his images wouldn't hold up so well in reproduction, especially in a book of this price, but they are very good.
If you want a cheap taster of Michael Kenna's huge body of work, this book is ideal. There is a good selection of his work here and Kenna's subtle prints have been reproduced with care. You won't be disappointed with your purchase.

This is a great collection of photographs of a great photographer, if you like monochrome photography,[landscapes] you will like this collection from mr Kenna, over a 30 year period,the atmosphere he manages in his photographs is outstanding,the book is very well put together, and,well printed,exellent.
