By Constant Reader TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is a great collection for anyone who wants an easy to watch version of Michael's "Greatest Hits" videos. There are some great versions, in the main the ones that are played on TV with the story removed and the focus on the dancing. The big disappointment is "Smooth Criminal", in my opinion Michael's masterpiece - what we get is the "official" version which is speeded up and blurred and intercut with chase scenes. If you want the full dancing version of "Smooth Criminal" then you need to buy "Moonwalker", and a slightly shortened version is on "History". I'm still trying to track down the 4 minute version usually shown on TV. But despite the obvious disappointment of "Smooth Criminal", this is still a great DVD - worth the price for "Bad" and "Thriller", never mind all the other goodies.

2.0 out of 5 stars Massive disappointment 8 July 2009
I've never bought a Michael Jackson DVD before, though I've always been a huge fan of his "short films". The Number Ones CD is a superb compilation so I had no hesitation in picking up this DVD - obviously, I was hoping for full versions of the BAD, Thriller and Smooth Criminal videos, the latter being my absolute favourite.

Well, you get the full version of Thriller, but that is it really. The original Smooth Criminal isn't even on there - instead we get some blurry sped up montage from the Moonwalker film. Absolutely gutted.

To make matters worse, the picture quality is poor - most videos are grainy and aren't even rendered in full 16:9. Apparently, there are 3 videos on here that are exclusive, but that is scant consolation for me. From the sound of things, HIStory vols 1 & 2 are all that you need if you want to own the late, great Michael Jackson's videos so I guess I'm just going to have to wait 4 weeks or so before I can get a copy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as you'd expect. 3 Nov 2003
Michael Jackson pioneered the art of video making in the music industry and is still the greatest inovater when it comes to the music short film. This DVD boasts a varied selection of many of Michaels greatest videos, including the newly available You Rock My World, an amazing video starring Chris Tucker and Marlon Brando that is not available anywhere else. A must buy for any music fan, or indeed movie fan as the production values are just as good as many films.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Rock My World - Is Pure Genius!! 22 May 2004
By A Customer
I watched this DVD three or four times before I was able to put it away. It hooks you as Michael pulls his audience into his performance! I enjoyed all the videos even from the beginning in "Don't Stop till You Get Enough" with all the big sparkling glass balls flying above his head, behind his back and rolling along the stage. Then when I watched "You Rock My World" I thought to myself, this video is pure genius. Only Michael Jackson could create such an entertaining video with an exciting beginning, middle and end, a love story - in the middle of a mob nightclub. He falls for the girl of a gangster and to steal her away, he rocks the place with his song and dance moves. He brings the house down with three other dancers. If you have everything he owns, you'll still want this DVD. I read the other reviews about the cuts in some of the videos, but so what. This is the King of Pop and for the $13.00 I paid for this DVD, I would pay three times that just for "You Rock My World." Michael has some of his best dances moves in this video and he does it with grace and style, looking cool as usual. He is the only performer that I have watched perform that can dance like there are no bones in his body while never breaking a sweat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular 11 Nov 2003
By A Customer
He has done it yet again !
Michael Jackson's Number one's is an outstanding, must-have for any music lover.
Not just for Michael Jackson fans, but also for any music lovers.
It gives us a view of how music videos have developed through out history, showing us that Michael Jackson has, infact, invented music videos as we know them today.
It gives a 'thrilling' chill down your spine when you watch them, they are so magical.
Buy it !

5.0 out of 5 stars Number Ones 10 Nov 2003
Michaels videos have never disappointed. If its the horror of Thriller, the public awareness of Man in the mirror, or the contraversial vandalism that takes place towards the end of Black or White. His videos are packed full of amazing dance moves and routines. Unlike most performers, Michael treats his videos like a short movie, so its not surprising to find some of his videos last up to nearly 15 minutes long. I have all the songs from previous albums, and will get the new single, so I am buying the DVD instead. This has a much better track listing than previous DVD's and is a must buy. I strongly reccommend you place an order for it right now as I doubt you will regret it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Again Very Dissapointed 27 July 2009
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Billie Jean, Man In The Mirror, Dirty Diana, The way you make me feel, You Are Not Alone, Earth Song, Blood On The Dancefloor & You Rock My World are all the full versions, even Thriller is in its complete 13 mins version.

HOWEVER, Bad is cut down to just the song, Smooth criminal is the original music video but is nowhere near as good as the version in Moonwalker (more like a trailer for the film put to the music). Black or white cuts off at the end of the song so no panther or vandalism scenes.

Also missing are some great video's Liberian Girl,I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Leave Me Alone, Remember The Time, Jam, Will You Be There, Heal The World, Give In To Me, Ghosts, Scream, They Don't Care About Us, to name just a few.

This will do for now until a complete uncut collection is released, no doubt it will be at sometime.
