3.0 out of 5 stars strongly recommended 17 Jun 2005
Format:Audio CD
With over a dozen cds devoted to his music Finnissy is one of the best represented living British Composers in the current catalogue which seems appropriate as his finest work has a unique communicative force which makes alot of new music produced within these shores seem rather polite and limited in scope.

While this disc has its ups and downs there atleast two gems.
Palm Sunday is heart wrenching in the way a Bruckner motet is woven into a more atonal musical language. The collisions with the strange instrumental line up are bizzare but beautifully judged.
No less remarkable is Forget me Not by the 13 year old Finnissy where a beguiling 12 note vocal melody is either nicely accompanied or contradicted by the ensemble.
strongly recommended and excellent performances.
