Product Description

The graceful art of fly-casting is a mystery to the casual observer and most newcomers to the sport of game fishing. Here, with the help of one of the country s most famous casting experts Michael Evans; we go a long way to solving that mystery. Michael s precise but simplistic approach, allows even the complete novice to gain the necessary skills to cast a fly to an awaiting trout. Breaking the cast down into various stages, he will show you that what appears to be a complex procedure, can with practice, easily become second nature. There is advice on suitable equipment and on how it should be set up, and some fascinating night time shots which illuminate the path of well cast and for the sake of demonstration, sometimes not so well cast lines. Michael takes time to point out the most common faults that he sees when teaching and shows you how to eradicate them. This DVD is a must for any newcomer having problems getting to grips with the basics of fly-casting, or indeed for any fly fisherman/woman who needs a refresher to brush up on their existing skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars To the point - all you need to start practising! 14 Jan 2008
Of all the instructional fly-fishing videos I have seen, this is by far the best one. Michael Evans covers all the basic techniques and presents a simple approach to fly casting. He doesn't complicate matters by discussing beautiful scenery or different species of fish. This DVD covers casting and nothing else - and that's exactly what you need to focus on as a beginner in the sport (or art?) of fly fishing. What makes this video stand out is how clearly Michael explains and demonstrates common mistakes and how to correct them.

This DVD is a no nonsense, simply demonstrated and explained lesson in basic fly casting techniques. Can't wait to see the next one on how to catch a trout!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stillwater Fly fisherman 10 Feb 2010
I have been an occasional fly fisherman for many years but found this DVD very helpful in getting back to basics. A few friends have asked me to take them with me for a first try at fly fishing. I cannot think of anything that would be better than this DVD for them to look at before the first outing. Simple and effective - what more could we want!

2.0 out of 5 stars Very short 2 Jun 2010
Well it does what it say's on the cover, nothing else and it's quick and dull.
Evidently this is part 1 of 3 casting DVD's, in my opinion they should have put them all on the one disk as there is plenty of room left on the disk.
Luckily I also purchased the Hywel Morgans 'still water fly fishing' that covers the same casting techniques along with entomology, fly tying, etc. and it also manages to be entertaining.
