Product Description

Michael Collins is one of the most famous figures in Irish history. A farmer's son from west Cork, he became the most wanted man in the British Empire, a minister in the first Irish government and Commander-in-Chief of the Irish army. Engaging and informative, this new account for children follows Michael as he takes part in the 1916 Easter Rising, plans a guerrilla war against the British and helps to negotiate the treaty that led to the Irish Civil War. The story ends with the ambush at Beal na Blath, in County Cork during which Michael was killed by his former comrades.

Excellent biography 6 Sep 2008

Highly recommended. 'Michael Collins: Most Wanted Man' is gripping and packed with interesting anecdotes. The book would be of great interest to readers who are unfamiliar with the events of the early 20th century in Ireland and it would also be of interest to readers who are looking for a new perspective on those events.
