This pocket guide is a double sided 560mm x 21mm sheet of water resistant paper folded concertina style to 100mm x 21mm. It shows about 170 of the common birds of Mexico in breeding plumage with common and Latin names plus size. The birds are split into six sections; `waterside and nearshore', `doves woodpeckers etc.', `parrots and hummingbirds etc.', `raptors', `owls' and `perching birds'. If you are travelling light this is an ideal reference guide but you will need access to other material to sort out the females and less common birds.
I purchased the pamphlet of Mexico Birds-A Pocket Naturalist Guide as I didn't want to carry around a heavy book and although basic-it was very helpful at identifying most of the birds I came across. It's a pull out, laminated guide and the birds are separated in to types. There is no real info on them but it was good to identify the species and then look them up in more detail later. Very handy!
I didn't expect it to be just a card expected a book very disappointed as we have always take them when we visit different countries
