An excellent architectural handbook that fulfils its promise.
This is a brilliant book! After discovering this handbook, through a colleague at work, I felt I just had to have my own copy. As a design manager for a large construction company, it is invaluable to have a ready source of all those data that allow me to check for a complete and workable design - the devil is in the detail - and the details are almost sure to be here. Just about every type of public and private building or facility is dealt with, from farms to factories and from law courts to laboratories. There are also sections on generic aspects such as HVAC, lighting, sound and structural materials. All the data is fully referenced back to source and relevant codes and standards.
For any design office I would think the corresponding CD-ROM, from which symbol drawings can be copied into CAD files, would be a must.

An exceedingly thorough compilation of all those annoying facts and figures you can never remember or find any where else! This book is always open at the end of my desk, and I now have to fight for it with my colleagues to get to the information. No project or facilities manager, specification writer or other member of the construction industry should be without it!

Format: Paperback
This is one of the most important books for architects and other associated professions. This copy has been extensively updated, which is to be highly commended, however, the information on acoustics and heat loss seem quite shoddy. Equations are misprinted and the cross-referencing within the sections is confusing at times baring little or no correlation to the worked examples. I only hope the other sections are not subject to the same inaccuracies.

I am a project manager and help out at the designing stage. This is an excellent reference book and saves us a lot of money referring to the architect for advice on specification, design and planning conformity etc. For anyone in the building trade it is great help.
