  • Our Meteor ® knives are made ??of stainless steel 420 or 440 or carbon steel (carbon steel) with a hardness of 52-60 HRC (Rockwell). Your blades do not rust (high corrosion resistance). Sophisticated blade profiles and design solutions helping our customers complete satisfaction in terms of functionality, portability and efficiency in use. We hope that these simple but very useful knife also inspire you and will be a valuable companion.
  • 420 steel contains less than 0.5% carbon. Hardness of 52-56 HRC (Rockwell hardness C scale). The advantages are high resilience (resilience) resistance (eg, resistance to dynamic loads) and corrosion resistance, can not be compared with others, used in the manufacture of stainless steels knife. Composition: carbon (0.15-0.35%), Cr (0.12-0.14%), manganese (0.1%), balance iron.
  • Carbon steel (carbon steel) is steel with a high carbon content within its structure. It has a high hardness and a reduced corrosion resistance. Therefore, the carbon steel requires a very specific care (eg, clove oil with samurai swords) in order to prevent rusting of the blade.
  • In its basic composition steel is an alloy of iron and carbon with the content of the latter, of not more than 2%. A higher carbon content violates the crystal structure of steel and converts it into cast iron. The carbon increases the hardness, strength and elasticity of the steel, as well as abrasion resistance. A higher carbon content generally leads to a lower corrosion resistance.
  • Overall length: 19.7 cm

METEOR brand knives are manufactured in stainless steel 420 or 440 with a hardness of HRC on a scale from 52 to 60 and their blades have a very high degree of corrosion resistance. Thoughtful profiles of the blade and applied design solutions provide each user with full satisfaction in terms of functionality, portability and efficiency in action.

Family of stainless steels 420 contain less than 0.5% carbon. Their advantages are high 'udarowo??' (ie, toughness on dynamic loads) and resistance to corrosion, even unique among the stainless steel used in the manufacture of knives.

The hardness of HRC: 52 - 56.

Steel Composition 420:

Carbon (0.15 - 0.35%)
Chrome (0.12 - 0.14%)
Manganese (0.1%)
remainder being iron.
Stainless steels of the family 440 (with better performance characteristics than steel 420) are among the most popular so-called. 'Civil' steel.

They are characterized by high corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and also because of their properties does not require frequent sharpening.

The percentage of carbon within the limits: 0,65-0,75%.

The hardness of HRC: 57 - 60.

even it is a very lovely design, flip opening mechanism works perfectly and the fine edge is fairly sharp from box
this knife has a lot of downsides,
-serrations need sharpening as they are coated by paint too much and that makes them blunt
-whole knife stinks like old engine oil and is oiled all over, needs to be washed throughout properly, but still stinks a bit
-the painted aluminum handle is very slippery, even more slippery with wet hands, handle design is comfortable in hand, but i wish it would be made from G10 rather than a way too smooth slippery aluminum.
-paint from the handle chips off very easily
-designed by a Polish company, but made in china
-comes in a ugly cheap looking blister pack, not a good gift idea
-these knives cost around 10quid (in GBP) in poland (googled for it while it was unavailable on amazon), way overpriced in uk for the fact that they are cheaply made in china

Other things to note, its a lock knife with a blade over 3" and a non-metallic blade, illegal to carry in public not just in UK since it also is a one hand opening lock knife
it could be a very good knife if the handle would be made from a different material and its overpriced for the quality you get.
plus i have no idea what the UP® sticker is about and good for

If you are looking for a good lock knife for a reasonable price and good quality better look for US made knives like the Buck or other makes (many good online outdoor shops have a very good choice of US knives)

Update 24/6/2014: Most useless knife i ever had, unreliable thin blade snapped on its first camping on basic tasks for which a simple pocket swiss army knife is made for, just took the meteor with me to test it and it failed completely.
