Book Description

29 May 1997 Expanding World: The European Impact on World History, 1450-1800
Rather than approaching this subject from a traditionally European perceptive, this collection of essays seeks to give a broader view to monetary events, focusing as much on Africa and the Orient as the Old World. 4.0 out of 5 stars A different look at the General Crisis of the Seventeenth Century 2 Oct 2013
By Paul F. Austin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Flynn and Giraldez bring together a collection of papers on the economic history of the Seventeenth Century and later that views what is called the General Crisis from a global rather than Eurocentric perspective. While the outpouring of silver and other precious metals from (malinly) Spanish America but also Japan provides the forcing disruption, the vast Chinese market for silver (dwarfing Europe) heavily shaped the flows of monetary metals.
