Anyone who watches the show already knows what it's about.

I, for one, didn't get the DVDs for extra features...I just like being able to watch my favorite episodes over and over.

The song lyrics are hysterical, but the music sounds genuine -- perfect combination. If you haven't already, pick up a copy of The Dethalbum.

The characters represent the typical heavy metal stereotypes, and it's hard to pick a favorite...but even their business manager is awesome.

This series just gets better, even more so if you're a metal fan. It's funny & gruesome, and so enjoyable, with repeat viewing most necessary. Malcolm McDowell joins Mark Hamill and guests including Devin Townsend, Angela Gossow, Michael Amott, Ihsahn, Silenoz, & George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher. This is just excellent. May the Metalocalypse continue...

If you like Metal, _This Is Spinal Tap_, "Beavis and Butthead", the mockumentary genre, lots of death and explosions, other Adult Swim shows, brilliant writing and animation, great comedy, dark humor, buy this DVD collection now. Support quality programs on Adult Swim. They ruthlessly kill off good shows as seemingly as often as people get offed in Metalocalypse. Season 2 sees the return of characters introduced in the first series, some of whom viewers were given the impression were probably dead or gone for good. This was a pleasant surprise as is the further development of the characters. There's more to some of them than you first realize. Season 2 also continues to follow a certain strange top secret orginization monitor and cause trouble for the band. It does have me curious how they'll wrap that up. I do know this - the concluding episodes of seasons 1 and 2 are so kick *** they leave you wanting more.

A fish with tits... titty fish 30 Nov. 2008

The second season of Metalocalypse was every bit as brutal as the first. Buy it on the internet, or at your local food libraries.

If nothing else, buy it for the episode where they release a clothing line; or the fantastic Dave Lee Roth-parodying Dr Rockzo's rehab episode, Cleanzo.

Must have for fans! 29 Nov. 2010

I enjoyed season one a lot so I just went ahead and ordered season two and I'm pretty sure it's even better than the first. The DVD has a decent amount of extras, a least what would be expected from any other television DVD. The presentation is done well and the bonus features are sort of hidden throughout the menu.

Finally They Listened!!!!! 6 Dec. 2008

Just pick it up today, and it's anamorphic enhanced for 16x9 tv's. Thank you Adult Swim, Williams Street, WB, and Brandon Smalls. Oh! don't let the outer box fool you it states: Standard Version, that's a printing mistake. All the episodes are anamorphic enhanced.
TWISTED HUMOR 31 May 2010

Metalocalypse is a disaster. But it's a great one. It's basically a fairy tale about a death-metal band ( that also happens to be a real band, in the real world... put together by Brendon Small..., the same guy who created the Adult Swim series called Home Movies ), called Dethklok, and the their total failure at everything they try to do, except playing their special brand of music. That's the one thing they're good at. But , despite their naive and childish views of the world and their self-centered focus on their desires, from wanting to be fashion designers, public relations experts, politicans, to playing practical jokes on each other all the time, they are basically well-meaning guys who do not really want to see people get hurt and prefer not to engage in violence ( at least not against innocent bystanders or their fans ) ..., though they sing about bloodshed, death and violence at every concert. Their fans, in the series, are another matter. They are lunatics and often end up dying in a bloodbath due to some unforseen problem at a Dethklok concert. Every episode has a short animated music video vocaled by Brendon Small, who also plays guitar.

There are a lot of blood and guts splattering around in this series, there are also scenes of torture and lots of bad language. So, why do I recommend it? Because it's a great satire of real "metal" bands and their obnoxious excessive lifestyles. These guys are so dumb at everything except music, you can't help but laugh as they simply try to do ordinary things, like go shopping..., and totally screw it up.

Interesting note; Mark Hamil ( of Star Wars fame ) , and veteran actor Malcolm McDowell perform many of the voice overs for characters ( other than the band members ) , in this series. Brendon Small voices three of the band characters, ( Nathan Explosion, Skwisgarr, and Pickles ) and also voices the band's manager ( Charles Foster Offdensen).

The disks worked very well. In fact the aspect ratio is for widescreen, which is the first time I've seen this in an animated series. The audio was excellent, especially during the music videos.
