5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece 4 Nov 2002
By Sophie
Format:DVD
I have watched this concert several times, and it never bores me. This concert is a perfect demonstration of Metallica's talent and philosophy. The energy created by these four artists (particularly Kirk) is apparant, giving an amazing performance of all tracks, but especially "One", "Fade to Black", "Fuel" and "Nothing else matters". The dvd version has exclusive interviews which show Metallica as genuine, fun guys who are extremely passionate and dedicated to their music.
Even if you weren't there, it feels as though you're experiencing the real thing whilst you watch. Obviously, they're brilliantly talented, but it's their charisma that also contributes to the atmosphere created. Overall, a fantastic concert. The only thing I'd suggest, is to buy the dvd as opposed to the vhs, as not only because of the added features, but because I'm noticing the sound on the vhs is fading because of the avid playing. Believe me, avid playing WILL be an issue when you watch this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 27 April 2003
Format:DVD
This is what bands should be aiming for when they record concerts onto video and DVD. Cunning Stunts is a masterpiece featuring some of the finest metal songs of all time by the best of the best, Metallica.

The atmosphere is incredible. When you watch this, you actually feel like you're there, relishing in Metallica's energy which is captured so well on this 2-disc set. Every Metallica song worth mentioning up to Re-Load is on this (the only notable exception is Sanitarium which is partly included in Kirk's guitar doodle). It even features an early version of Fuel with altered lyrics.

There are no downsides to this DVD. There are no dull moments as this is a captivating masterpiece which showcases the brilliance of one of the most innovative bands of all time. If you're a fan of Metallica, buy this as soon as you possibley can because it is a must have for any fan. Great job Metallica, you've done yourselves proud!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb concert 17 Dec 2002
Format:DVD
Filmed over two nights, this must have been an amazing concert for those lucky enough to have been there - for the rest of us this DVD gives an experience that is an excellent substitute.

Every Metallica song you would expect is on there - even the early material.

The DVD delivers quality sound with 5.1 available and a choice of camera angles on 3 tracks (Ain't My Bitch, For Whom The Bell Tolls and Wherever I May Roam). I don't know why it is only these three and not all of them but it is a good feature never the less if none of the tracks had multiple camera angles.

The extras are pretty good with interviews, behind the scenes footage/making of and subtitles if you feel like singing along if you don't know the words!

As Metallica havenot realeased a 'Best Of' album, this DVD is an excellent introduction to Metallica for newcomers to the band and a must have for the die-hard fan.

Brilliant, but it is a shame the concert is not on one disc and the extras on the other.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!! 15 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Metallica plays all the hits you'd expect and then some!- The sound is excellent, and its brilliantly filmed. Highlights have to be the Kill/Ride medley and Master of Puppets! Its a shame the concert could not have been put onto one disc though (with some of the bonus features discarded), and a little lower in price. Overall, a must have for any 'big' metallica fan, particularly anyone who saw them on this tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE music/concert DVD 9 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Well, they said it was especially recorded for DVD, a damn, you can tell! Picture and audio quality is excellent, especially with the 5.1 digital, (One and any song with pyro are excellent examples!) Multiple camera angles, although only for a few songs, are really entertaining (just how many faces can Lars pull! )

Then we have the extras! There were some very strange people on that tour, not including the band ;)

This is a really great DVD, with some really great extras, and is highly recommended to anyone. It's a great DVD to show off your new player and Digital Sound System.

The concert itself is pretty good, with a good mix from the old stuff, right up to one song off their 'new' record, like 'way cussing new', ReLoad :)

If you have a DVD and like Metallica, you have not excuse not to have this, even if you already have the video, the extras, sound and picture quality make up for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metallica - live and at the peak of their game 22 Jan 2001
Format:DVD
A superb recording of the best rock band on the planet. Picture quality and sound are both crystal clear. The band are on top form and the set list includes all of the tracks you could hope for. One minor grumble, the extras are worth a view, but you do wonder if the whole concert could have fitted on 1 disc without them. Even at that, the overall quality of the package is so high, I think it was worth the purchase price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for Metallica Friendz 9 July 2000
Format:DVD
The content on these discs is fantastic, crystal sharp pictures although the sound seemed a little flat on the pyro. Great selections of songs, a complete mix original stuff to Fuel. Can't help but think they could have put the whole concert on one disc and the special info on the second, for a better layout but otherwise. 6 out of 5 for the band. Lets see lots more Metallica DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metallica Rock the World 1 Dec 2002
Format:VHS Tape
Have you seen S&M, if you have then you will appreciate just how good Metallica can be Live. However, if the thought of improving on Perfection appeals to you, then you need to buy this Video. Metallica are arguably the biggest Rock band on the Planet, and the sheer size of their performances will blow you away, and this is no exception. The Band performs on a stage located in the centre of a huge Stadium, surrounded by thousands of fans all begging for more, even on Video you can feel the power of the performance. Must be in any Rockers Collection
