Metalizer is the third release by Sabton, but should have been the first. Recorded before Primo Victoria, Metalizer has been held up by legal and label disputes, meaning we only get to hear it years after Sabaton recorded the album.
In some ways the album suffers in comparrison with the previous two releases, as this is a Sabaton who were less confident, and less distinctive. Whereas both Primo and Attero Dominatus are obviously Sabaton from start to finish, Metalizer is an album where you can sit and pick out influences from other metal bands.
Does not make Metalizer a bad album? Hell No!!!
Metalizer is real metal: powerful; strong; determined; and forceful. Performed by very talented musicians, the songs are outstanding, and they are sung by one of the best vocalists around. This is the kind of album that you would use as an example if someone asked you to explain to them what heavy metal was all about. It's the kind of music that many people thought had disappeared, real awe-inspiring passionate metal! Does it matter that it isn't quite as good as Primo or Attero? Of course not, you'll just have to buy them as well! Metalizer is still easily the best album to come out this year!
Unfortunately, as the band are Swedish, and immensely talented, you won't see them on British tv. Hell, you'll struggle to hear them on the supposed rock channels on Digital radio. Instead people will be force-fed the same old commercially acceptable trash which promotes the same old stuff, whilst real quality artists disappear in to the wonderful world of the internet.
Buy this album! Buy all the Sabaton albums! You owe it to Metal! You owe it to yourself!
