Product Description

About the Artist

A superb recording of solo guitar from one of it's finest exponents. Preston Reed is fast becoming acknowledged as one of the most musically aware and tecnically gifted guitarists in the world and Metal, his third UK release, is further proff throughout it's thirteen beautifully crafted tracks, all written by Preston himself and many showcased on his recent sell-out tour of Britain and Ireland. " I want to rave about Preston Reed's 'Metal'. Reed has taken the genre in the most innovative directions, both with technique and with composition. The title track, an acoustic tribute to Heavy Metal, will drop your jaw." - Playboy Magazine. "One of the most unique and challenging acoustic guitar albums ever...Reed's pieces are as visually and emotionally provocative as his technique is dazzling. Both guitar aficionados and casual listeners will find much to enjoy in this creative yet completely accessible work. Find it!" - Hilarie Grey, Jazz Times

Until you see this man live, it's hard to comprehend how this album was recorded. I came away from a local gig in a tiny venue making comparisons with Leo Kottke from thirty years earlier. In reality, Reed is well beyond Kottke, and has created a style which is absolutely unique. Of three albums bought immediately following this concert, this is the best of the bunch - although in truth there isn't a lemon amongst them. Buy it - you won't regret it.
