Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Metal Gear Solid, one of the most prestigious of all PlayStation game series, is now playable on GameCube. Owners of Nintendo's console will no doubt be celebrating already--with good reason, too. Essentially, Twin Snakes is an updated version of the original Metal Gear Solid PlayStation outing. A new graphics engine--which is every bit as impressive as that of the PS2's Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty--brings the original action bang up to date.

While the storyline in Twin Snakes adheres closely to the original's, the way in which it is told is markedly improved: the original voiceover cast has re-recorded every conversation in the game, giving Twin Snakes a fresh take on a finely weaved plot of intrigue. A first-person perspective is introduced for those who wish to really soak up the Cold War atmosphere, while new cutscenes complete what is a comprehensive makeover for this legendary adventure.

Gameplay is as sharp and intuitive as ever: Solid Snake is one super sleuth, his repertoire of actions is considerable, and controlling those actions is perfectly straightforward. It's a good job, really: the quality of the Artificial Intelligence means that precise control is vital if Snake is to halt the nuclear war that is afoot. Thanks in no small part to its AI, Twin Snakes has an atmosphere that is wonderfully intense--for late-night gaming, this really is video-game perfection. --Jonti Davies

Manufacturer's Description

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes combines the thrilling story of the original Metal Gear Solid with the spectacular graphics and extraordinary gameplay from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, using a specially designed engine based on Sons of Liberty.

The Twin Snakes thrusts players into a stunning 3-D world of espionage and stealth action. Playing as legendary video game hero Solid Snake, gamers will infiltrate an Alaskan nuclear missile disposal facility occupied by a terrorist organisation called FOXHOUND. While the mission is simple--infiltrate the base, seize the terrorist cell and neutralise the weapons of mass destruction, aka Metal Gear--it is the gameplay that is unforgettable. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is an exercise in stealth manoeuvres, covert operations and special ops.

Delivering the essence of Metal Gear Solid and MGS2: Sons of Liberty into one unique experience, The Twin Snakes adds new elements to the gameplay that were not available with the original release of MGS, such as aiming and shooting in first-person view, hanging from ledges and opening lockers. Additionally, the game features all-new CG sequences led by Japanese film director and writer Ryuhei Kitamura as well as new character voiceovers, including the voice of the renowned screenwriter (X-Men) and actor David Hayter as Solid Snake.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The game was delivered quickly, and the condition the game arrived in is fantastic. Obiovusly the seller cares about their games.

The game it's self is very fun to play, it brings back the good memories of the Original Metal Gear Solid. I highly rcommend any MGS fan to get this game. MGS1 needed this remake and I'm glad they did it.

They brought all the features and graphics from MGS2, and added a few game play changes, but the core story and fun of the game have been preserved quite well. The new voice acting is also top notch and the new cutscenes are more like an action movie, and they have clearly taken inspriation from films like "The Matrix".

The method to unlock the Stalth Camo and Bandanna have also been preserved.

However these new features also tend to make the game too easy, which can be an issue for those who like a challenge, but is not exactly game breaking. There are also very minute frame rate issues when using the Socom in first person view.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best MGS so far 30 Jun 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Now before I played this I always thought the original Mgs was the best then I got this! It beats the 1st in terms of graphics and gameplay.
Graphics: Brilliant for its time on par with mgs 3 graphics.
Gameplay: New FPS view which is helpful for taking out guards. More modes like boss survival and Extreme difficulty. Suppressor for socom which is very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good remake of a great game. 25 May 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I purchased Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes for Gamecube and was highly satisfied, it's a fun remake of the fantastic first game in the Metal Gear Solid series (Third in the Metal Gear series).

With cutscenes remastered, gameplay perfected, various difficulty settings ranging from easy enough for everyone to only for the experienced gamer, it has something for everyone.

The remastered cutscenes give a new life (and faces!) to the 1998 classic, as well as carrying on the classic Kojima-esque genius game design, MGS;TTS is perfect for both the new to the series and the experienced gamer.
As always, if you go into it with the expectation of aninteractive movie you should havea thoroughly enjoyable experience with many clever plot twists and well-rounded characters with their own motives and objectives.

On the whole a classic remake of the fantastic original, well-suited to introduce people to one of the greatest game series in terms of both plot and well-constructed gameplay out there.
