What do Frank Zappa, Eddie van Halen, Joe satriani, Steve vai, gary Moore, Neil Schon, John Mclaughlin, Pat Metheny, Carlos Santana, David Torn, Steve Khan & Larry Coryell have in common?(the list could go on further) ANSWER: They all admire the guitar mastery of Allan Holdsworth. This is the first album Sir Allan had the money to make the album he wanted to make and be in total control of the creative process after the debacle with Warners and Creed Taylor. Mainly instrumental album with the defining Holdsworth classics Metal Fatigue and Devil takes the hindmost. This track will change forever the way you listen to and appreciate music. There are guitar players, good guitar players and great guitar players. Holdsworth is way beyond great. He has a unique sound world and fluid legato tone which is accessible. You will find no rock or jazz cliches here. He never repeats a solo live, it is truly improvisatory, it is different every night. You cannot really compare Holdsworth to other players. He has his own unique style just like Coltrane and Parker before him. Other players tend to sound like him if anything because he has been highly influential in his own modest way. Oh and by the way he is a good and integral composer. If you can't buy this check it out as an Itunes download! Do yourself a favor buy this!
