This book contains a good spread of basic recipes including shepherd's pie, pasta bolognaise, beef casserole, chicken casserole, chocolate pudding, apple crumble, fruit pavlova and jelly whip. There is also a lovely selection of food related messy ideas such as stained glass window biscuits, Holy Communion jellies, Joseph's coat cakes and empty tomb rolls. This turns out to be a useful cookbook for anyone wanting to do satisfactory meals at modest cost for small groups of people in almost any context. I like it.

We have just started Messy Church and I bought this book which said it was for catering teams. I was very disappointed to find that the recipes catered for for families of four or five. I have 200 cookbooks that do that. I was expected recipes for 20 or more so it of little use. I love buying cook books but not this one.

It's like many books - some good things and some that don't work for you. You have to choose what works for you from the book but there are lots of good ideas and it doesn't cost much
