5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book 23 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a great book, taking you step by step through the letters, but also referring to other Biblical books, and other sources. John Stott explains clearly the relevant cultural issues of the time, but also mentions current cultural isuues, and explaining how the Bible can be understood in the light of both of those.

One thing I really enjoy about the book is that it doesn't shirk the difficult questions, but attempts to answer them honestly, giving different viewpoints, and then giving John Stott's own understanding of the issue.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of God's Word to us today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stott the Master expositor 4 Feb 2009
By Charles C. Coury - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
John Stott continues to delight in both his skill with the pen and the clarity of his theological insight--faithful to the reformed doctrines in his exposition of scripture, yet insightful in application. I highly recommend to all preachers as the most accessible exegesis written by the consummate teacher. There is a reason he is the elder statesmen of the evangelical movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Exposition 24 Feb 2013
By Madoc - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
John Stott's 1 Timothy and Titus is an example of what a Biblical companion reader should be. Not only is it readable, but the author presents the various sides of theological discussions fairly. He goes through both books chapter by chapter, section by section, and each section of the Bible is printed in the book, which makes easy reading.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fine book on short books of the new testament 30 Nov 2011
By Dennis E. Blake - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Excellently Written and well articulated. The author helps illuminate Paul's words that he wrote so long ago in the New Testament. John Stott does a fine job of illustrating and amplifying the works of these new testament books
