In this emotional, funny and captivating book, Mavis details her feelings in her daily diary as she undergoes groundbreaking treatment, refusing to let "the nasty" beat her.

More About the Author

I am a 68 yr old wife and mum,who up until Christmas 2008 was fit and healthy. Going to the Gym every week, swimming once a week and to keep fit classes once a week.

I regularly walked my dog on a daily 2 mile round walk. Cleaned our car and Motorhome, cleaned my own windows, did all my own gardening. Considered myself fit.

At new year I visited my Doctor and was in and out of hospital for tests , x rays, MRI scans ,biopsies.

Then Boom! We are sorry but you have Mesothelioma.

That's an incurable lung cancer from contamination with Asbestos, which my husband worked with in the early 60`s bringing the dust home on his clothes that I washed.

Now some 49 years later and after Experimental Lung Surgery I have had a course of Chemo and Radiation and the nasty lays quiet but if it does start up again it will ravage my body.

They will treat me with more Chemo at that point. At the moment I have a good quality of life as Im getting about but very weak and exhausted at times

Because its still rare for women. I thought I would start a diary for my friends to keep up with my journey on my web page My day to day Diary

to keep in touch. I am fighting this with all my strength.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mesothelioma Inspiration 2 Dec 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the true story of one womans fight against mesothelioma - a terminal cancer caused by the exposure to Asbestos. Mavis and her husband Ray have written a daily blog and have used this to produce this E book which follows their story from their first meeting in the late 1950s through the birth of their children, the loss of their daughter and then the devastation which is Mesothelioma.
Ray writes of his fear of losing his wife and the guilt that he may be to blame for his wife coming into contact with asbestos. Mavis writes of her daily battle against this cancer and the fears that she has. Mavis also writes with humour and talks of the friends that she has made during this journey and you find yourself smiling with her.
Mavis ends the book with- "Watch this space" - and she leaves you in no doubt that she will continue the fight! I wish her and Ray all the best of luck for their future togeather.

This book will help many people that have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma and give them courage to fight the disease and not give up.

I have never met Mavis personally but have through an online forum. I have followed her progress in fighting this awful disease. I can only applaud her and Ray's courage. The book will have you laughing, crying and shouting for joy at the very good news she receives at the end of the book.

Keep on fighting Mavis and continue to enjoy your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mavis a truly amazing lady 14 Dec 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
I first met Mavis as a cyber friend on a motorhome forum.

Mavis was and still is such a helpful member on there, she spends hours talking to, and also helping others on the forum.

So when Mavis posted on the forum, saying she was ill, and how would she get through this........I was really upset.

To read Mavis's story is one of true courage and inspiration, as every day the fight continues against what Mavis describes as her 'little nasty'. The book comes to life as you live each day of this fight with Mavis and her beloved Husband Ray.

I cried when I read the poem by Ray, and I felt all the emotions that the couple were going through together,as the story unfolded, and I felt that I was in their living room with them, as Mavis describes each day in this incredible journey fighting her 'little nasty' mesothelioma.

The book ends with 'watch this space' and I truly will be doing so. What a remarkable woman Mavis is and I wish both Mavis and Ray the very best. The sheer determination and Mavis's courage shine from every page.

If mesothelioma is affecting you or anyone you know, I would definitely read this book.
