I bought this album as I always liked Shakin Stevens version of Blue Christmas (original by Elvis)..., I was pleased to find that all of the songs on this album are more than easy to listen to, the whole album has a rock'n'roll feel to it & there wasn't a song on it I didn't like! My favorite song is probably the obvious though, Merry Christmas Everyone..., I'm pleased they added to the album! :o)

If you like authentic 50's Rock & Roll whether it's Christmas or not, this
is the best selection of songs you will ever find on a R&R album.
First there is Shaky who without any doubt is the best R&R revival artist
in history. The first time I saw him interpreting young Elvis on a London
theatre stage back in 1978 he still was a rather unknown artist but
anyone could forespell a successful future because he danced, sang and
rocked just like Elvis did in the 50's. No-one, however,thought he would
be the #1 artist of the 80's doing just R&R music which is really an
incredible fact.
Secondly, this song selection is unbelieveble. Nine out of twelve are
"new" Christmas songs (1991) and there are some authentic 50's rock &
roller ones that beat any other R&R songs in history. "The best Xmas
of them all" + "So long Christmas" really made me jump and shout as if
it were 1958/59. These two songs have everything a genuine R&R one
should consist of: a lot of doo-wahs and other back up vocals, guitar
and piano solos, Shaky's rockin' voice and a catchy melody. Besides
these two best of the best, there are other up tempo rockers + some
wonderful typical 50's ballads as well + 3 classics like White Xmas,
Silent Night and Blue Christmas done in Shakin Stevens' unique way
that means in up tempo rockin' versions like nobody had done before
(except Phil Spector). This album is so good I will play it all year
long even on a hot summer day. For authentic Rock & Roll lovers this
is definitely a MUST!
