Read via local elibrary. Endorse p mosley these are short stories from 3 separate older anthologies. Also agree Abbys mom re content. These are very light fluffy stories with no sense or substance. Hard to equate them with depth of writing of lucky harbour series. At least christmas at lucky harbour gives 2 full length and 2 short stories (all great, see my review) for £3.19 on kindle compared to £3.59 for merry and bright on kindle. I only read them as had taken book at elibrary.

Beware...Total reprint, not new stories 3 Oct 2013
By P. Mosley - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
With the brief synopsis descriptions, I did not realize until I had bought this book that all three of the novellas are reprints from prior anthologies (which I already own on my Kindle). The first, Finding Mr. Right, is from To All a Good Night (2009) ; Bah Handsome! is from Kissing Santa Claus (2010); and Ms. Humbug is from The Night Before Christmas (2006). If at least one of the stories was new, I might have given more stars but to discover it was such a blatant repackaging of previously published material with no indication of this in the Amazon metadata was extremely frustrating. If you have only recently found Jill Shalvis and never read these other and enjoy because the stories are good. I'm just unhappy at having ended up buying them twice plus the disappointment at discovering that I don't have a "new story" to read.

So disappointing! 3 Oct 2013
By Abby's Mom - Published on

This book is made up of short stories, which have been published before. Don't let the cover picture OR the title trick you into thinking are Christmas stories. Yes, there might be a few references to it being Christmas, such as a box of decorations were brought down from the attic, or white Christmas lights twinkled through the office window but that's pretty much it. I've loved just about everything I've read of Ms. Shavis, especially her Lucky Harbor series, but these stories were just trashy to me. I love a good romance where there's plenty of bedroom action (I'm not dead!) but these people were having sex within minutes of meeting each other! The stories were just too ridiculous to believe. She quickly set up the characters and I liked them right away and I would have liked a novel with a few of them, especially Cami and Matt in the last story. She was cute and quirky and he was hot. Too late to get my $$$$ back, oh well. I like to read some reviews before buying a book but in this case none had been posted yet. I could have saved my money because the reviews posted now are alerting readers to the stories published before and the quality of the stories.

Three Holiday Romances Together in One Book.... 3 Oct 2013
By terrylynn - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Merry and Bright is comprised of three already published books/novellas by popular author Jill Shalvis. For those afraid of falling into the trap of buying a book you think is new, only to find out it's a re-release, I would advise you to look at the ISBN page in the front of the book and there you will find the original release dates for all three stories. This was a quick read with three cute but not earth shattering Christmas stories. All three romances combine a nice blend of romance, sex and just a little mystery to keep things interesting.

Finding Mr. Right... Maggie Bell is a brilliant chemist in a successful career. Her only problem is she has terrible luck when it comes to choosing men. When her sister advises her to stop looking for Mr. Right and try finding a Mr. Wrong, Maggie gives in to her desires for the handsome construction boss working in her building. Jacob is handsome, sexy and gets Maggie hot under the collar, but he is as different as Maggie as night is to day, so should she take a chance and listen to heart for once instead of her head? When an evening of passion turns into something a little bit more, Maggie begins to wonder if choosing Mr. Wrong was the best idea her sister has ever had.

Bah Handsome... Hope has had her share of bad boyfriends... one stole her heart then broke it, and another stole all her money and she still can't decide which one was worse because now she finds herself in danger of losing her B&B and all her land. Her heartless step brother gave her a loan, but the terms were bad and she finds herself slowly drifting toward losing it all. So when the money man who works for her brother shows up during a bad snow storm, looking for a room, she really, really doesn't want to let him in. But she doesn't want him freezing to death either so she finds herself with a very unwelcome boarder. Convinced Danny was sent there by her miserly brother to demand payment on the loan, she gives him the cold shoulder, but when he seems happy to be there and happy to help around the B&B, Hope begins to wonder if there is more than meets the eye behind this handsome refugee.

Ms. Humbug is the last of the three stories and I think was my favorite. Cami is a beautiful woman, but she is also a work alcoholic with OCD tendencies and a complete inability to realize that she is an attractive woman. So when her drop dead gorgeous boss gives her a mind boggling kiss at the company Christmas party, Cami begins to wonder if maybe she just might not be so bad after all. But being in control at all times is important to Cami and when Matt tries to break down some of her self protective walls, she is shocked and amazed how good it feels to let herself go and before you can sing The Twelve Days of Christmas, Cami knows that something special is happening and with Christmas and mistletoe right around the corner, she knows she has to be careful, because a man this wonderful can't be real. Danny is determined to show Cami just how desirable she really is and before she knows it, she is having the best Christmas ever.

A solid 3.5 stars for three nice little stories sure to help you get in the mood for the coming holiday season.

didn't do my research 19 Oct 2013

I normally purchase anything by Jill Shalvis. This time I didn't read the discriptions and reviews thoroughly, and once I began reading these stories, realized they sounded familiar. When I checked some of my older books and anthologies, I found them there. So the books were repackaged and re-released, and I wasted a couple of bucks purchasing something I already had, with a new cover and new title.
Disappointed, but it's my own fault.

The stories themselves are quick 'feel good' Christmas reads, a little dated, but definately worthy of at least a cup of hot chocolate while you're reading.
