Aaargh, after doing hours on internet searching for the holy grail of warm, waterproof winter boots, I bought these and they arrived on a Monday. I was delighted with the way they looked and the initial fit, snug and warm. I wore them out on a dog walk and within a half hour I had a blister on my ankle where the leather seems to rub (interestingly, similar to another comment). It seems to be the design where the leather sort of buckles in at the ankle. I perservered as I figured it was the normal hassle of breaking in new boots. By the Tuesday afternoon, I was struggling to do up the zips, particularly around the ankle. By the Wed, I was on the floor, yanking with maximum effort to get the zips above my ankle. I weigh 8 stone 4 and have slim legs so it wasn't like I was trying to get the zip over an enlarged ankle. I then conceded defeat. The boots, although, waterproof, just aren't viable if the zip can't be done, particularly over jeans or jodhpurs, and I shouldn't have to make that much effort to do them up. I do not want a replacement pair as I personally feel that there is a design fault here. There are similar comments about the zippers here and on the Merrell site. How utterly frustrating. If anyone knows of great winter, waterproof boots for walking dogs, feeding animals...please put a comment here! I am extremely pleased that I purchased these through Amazon as they have been brilliant about accepting a return and will refund my money, even though I wore the boots, given the defective zips. Whew.
