Just what I was after - a trainer that looks more like a conventional shoe and that can be used as smart and not look like trainers.

I have had a few pairs of Merrells now, and know to buy a size at least 1/2 size bigger than normal. Usually I buy a full size up.
Love these latest shoes from Merrell as they fit my feet really well.
I had my feet measure a couple of years back and discovered I have been buying the wrong size shoes for over 40 years.
I have a wide foot and a very wide foot. So i bought longer shoes to give me the width. Now I buy the correct length in a wide fitting and my feet are happier.
These Merrells have a larger toe area and are shaped to support your instep really well. I also insist on a pair with a Vibram sole now as they offer fantastic grip.

I have two other pairs of running-oriented Merrell Trail and Road Gloves. I love them and it has transformed my running and they seem to help avoid many niggling problems I was getting running in normal trainers. My persistent knee problem all but vanished, though they did take 3 months of gradual adjustment (so there is a genuine warning there!). I doubt you would need quite as much adjustmemt with these walking versions, but I guess I came straight from running versions, so my progression to these may not be typical.

I thought I'd replace my normal every day shoes with these and they are a great fit in my usual foot size. They seem to be able to cope with a few minutes of walking across wet grass without too much ingress of water at all, but I don't think they state any waterproofing anyway. The Vibrim soles seem to be wearing very well.

I got mine on a great deal, and I would most definitely replace them with the same when they eventually wear out; hopefully not that soon.

I bought these to replace my old 'normal' Merrell casuals, and didn't noticed at the time that they were from the 'barefoot' range.
I gave them a go, and the first thing you notice is how much lighter they are weight compared to my last pair. Just goes to show how much weight is in the thicker soles on the old ones.
These new ones are very comfortable, plenty of room for the toes and can walk miles in them.
Only one thing I've noticed - if you've got a pair of jeans etc that are relatively long, just remember that these shoes will bring them another couple of cm nearer to the ground - so in my case I was just catching them under the heel. :-)

I'm happy enough with these that I'm now looking at another shoe from the Merrell barefoot range to use for running.

This shoe is very lightweight, and takes a little getting used to - but saying that I love the way you can feel what your are walking on. It does change the way you walk (you avoid sharp ground) but feels very natural. It is disappointing to note that with not even 2 months wear (wlaking on streets to work) the sole is starting to wear down - I expected more from Vibram.
The leather upper is ok - it make the shoe splash proof but does make the foot quite warm (I have hot feet anyway).

Today is the first day I had to wear the shoe in heavy rain - and due to the flat front on top of the shoe I found water came in at the base of the tongue.

I'd say this is a good dry weather shoe - feels excellent, looks a bit weird but does not seem to be very hard wearing.

Initially I thought these were great, very comfortable once you get used to them and good quality (expect that for almost £100)

I had to order a whole size down from my normal UK size.

Well some months later the fabric eyelets on both shoes have worn and broken so you can't lace them properly, the laces were already an issue being too long. The fact it happened on both shoes shows that it's a defective product.

Some of the stitching is unraveled but this eyelet thing has ruined them, I can stop using the top eyelets but they don't lace up right now.

Contacted Merrell and they said return to seller, haven't been able to, so basically stuck with an expensive pair of shoes that didn't even last 1 year. Not impressed.
